We have had a very stressful month here.. W***y the pig is still having intestinal issues and we are alternating different foods in an effort to help him through. He does have a farm call on Friday to get hoofs trimmed and will discuss the ongoing issues with the doctor.
Then our sweet boy Sawyer who was transported from Tennessee a few years ago in horrible condition because of untreated injuries resulting in a tail amputation that left us unable to manually express him and although he was able to void on his own when relaxed and sleeping it was not enough to completely empty his bladder resulting in a constant UTI which although continuously treated never completely cleared resulting in him developing sepsis and crashing. We knew he would not have a long life but we were hoping for far more than we got.
And then our sweet Gimli showed signs of a UTI on Memorial Day and we started him on antibiotics but this morning he was in a lot of discomfort and was not urinating.
He also has Manx syndrome and although he urinates and defecates on his own he also does not totally empty his bladder and his level of Manx syndrome does not allow manually expressing him.
Thank you Doctor Lappin for taking the time to insure his bladder was emptied and he is still with us.
We will be scheduling him for surgery to basically give him the anatomy of a female thus insuring he won’t be blocking again.

I am aware that by most people’s standards I am a bit nuts but here’s my high five hip hip hurrah for today!!
W***y our much loved pot belly pig is now considered a senior citizen and has been having on again off again intestinal issues apparently because the hay he consumed has been coarse and causing partial blockages..
Translated = W***y was constipated!! A potential life threatening problem ..
Almost impossible to find a vet dealing with pigs and unable to transport him so we have been giving him salads with olive oil, pumpkin and prunes for snacks..
this morning we are celebrating perfect pig 💩.. I know only a few will celebrate with us and there are some shaking their heads right now but….

This little sweetheart is Maui ❤️. He/she has been here for a few weeks. He has severe leg deformities and stunted growth. He actually does really well with what he’s got though. Maui now lives with Dolly and they both adore each other! Dolly is 3 years old and has even more severe deformities. Both of these babies are the products of bad breeding practices and greed. Just casualties along the way as they seek to make more money producing “the perfect” characteristics. These 2 are far from perfect but we love them dearly at CHAMPs ❤️

Please people .. with kitten season rapidly approaching, baby chicks bunnies and puppies everywhere… think first.. these are life’s.. they require supplies, vet care .. spays neuters, flea prevention.. ect
You don’t get the cute little animal and then contact shelters or post on social media for free food and supplies..
Pretty sure my taxes are already paying your rent, and utilities.. you certainly get SNAP ..
So if I’m less than receptive when you ask a shelter to now care for something you chose to acquire I make no apologies!!
