🍂🍁Fall Pet Toxins & Hazards to Watch For! 🍁🍂

Cooler weather, Halloween, cozy treats, and fall decorating are here but some seasonal favorites can be dangerous for our pets!

Keep an eye out for:

🎃 Halloween: Chocolate, xylitol/sugar-free candy & candy wrappers
🍇 Fall Foods: Grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, fatty foods & corn cobs
🍄 Yard Hazards: Wild mushrooms, acorns & black walnuts
☕ Drinks & Treats: Caffeine & alcohol
🌿 Plants & Decor: Toxic plants, candles, wax melts & essential oils
🐭 Pest Control: Rodenticides and other mouse/rat baits
🔥 Outdoor Hazards: Campfires, charcoal, ash & lighter fluid

Pet-proof your home and yard this fall! A little prevention can go a long way toward keeping your furry family members safe.

If you think your pet has eaten something potentially toxic, contact your veterinarian and an animal poison control service right away—even if they aren't showing symptoms yet.

Have a safe, happy, and pet-friendly fall!

Our team proudly offered urgent care 7 days a week, ensuring families had access to compassionate veterinary care throughout the month.

Boarding Your Pet? Don’t Forget Their Vaccines!

Planning a boarding stay, daycare visit, or pet sitter while you're away?

Bruno, who had to stay with us for medical observation, would like to make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date before they have to board!

Boarding facilities often have specific vaccine requirements to help protect all the pets in their care. Since your pet may be around other dogs and cats, staying current on recommended vaccines can help reduce the risk of preventable illnesses.

Before boarding, check:
• Your pet’s vaccine records
• The facility’s vaccination requirements
• Whether vaccines need to be given a certain number of days before boarding
• Your pet’s parasite prevention status

Don’t wait until the last minute! Some vaccines may require time to become effective, and boarding facilities may have specific deadlines.

Planning to board? Give us a call or schedule your pet’s visit ahead of time so you can check “vaccines” off your to-do list!

Happy boarding!

Alerts pop up before our medical and support team view a patient in our system with any important information we may need. While these alert are usually medical info, we had to have a little fun with our team discussing what ours would be!

If you were a patient, what would your alert be?

Back to School means change for your pets!

As kids head back school, your pets may notice the change. A quieter house and a new schedule can lead to boredom, stress, or even separation anxiety.

Here are a few ways to help them adjust:
- Stick to a consistent routine.
- Provide enrichment toys or puzzle feeders.
- Take a walk before everyone leaves.
- Leave calming music or white noise on.
- Give extra love when you get home. ❤️

A little preparation can help your pet transition smoothly but if your concerned about destructive behavior, contact us to discuss ways to make the transition easier.

Ducky came to our Urgent Care team after her owners noticed that she had developed a yellow appearance (jaundice), along with a decreased appetite and vomiting.

Ducky was hospitalized for about a week while our team worked to determine what was making her so sick. Her lab work revealed significantly elevated liver values, so she underwent an ultrasound to further evaluate her liver and surrounding organs.

During her hospitalization, Ducky received IV fluids, liver support, and gastrointestinal support while she was closely monitored by our team. We suspect that she ingested an unknown toxin, although her owners never knew exactly what she may have gotten into.

We are so happy to share that Ducky has made a wonderful recovery and is back to feeling like herself!

We’re so proud of this sweet girl and grateful to her owners for getting her the care she needed.
