Thank you for all the love!
We wanted to send out a quick update on new developments in our campaign to Save the Urban Ag Academy. As of yesterday morning, site admin informed me they successfully petitioned for a single year of funding to operate 3 stand alone agriculture elective classes.
While this is good(ish) news, and a decent start, we feel this does not adequately resource a garden/farm and program of our scope, size, and ambition. And is certainly no replacement for what is being cut which includes a dedicated full time teaching/coordinating position, 3 years of sequenced classes (4-5/day), and program operating budget.
In light of this, we plan to stay the course in advocating strongly against the shutdown of Burbanks full 3 year Urban Agriculture Academy and hope you will stand with us.
Keep those letters coming and if you plan on joining us at Thursday’s school board meeting wear GREEN to show your support for all garden based education across the district and our efforts to save the LBHS Urban Ag Academy.
