Three little kittens came in 1 month ago, with severe corneal ulcers & conjunctivitis. One was so bad, we had to remove its eye. They are now on the mend & looking for a forever home, & we would like for the 3 of them to go together, as they are very bonded.

Kristi & Leah (the litter was named after some of us at work) are still looking for their forever home, preferably together. They are up to date on vaccines (FVRCP & RV) & have been spayed. Their mom was tested Felv/FIV negative. If you know of anyone interested, feel free to give them my info & I can get them in contact with their foster mom.

Sprite (pale green on right) & her friend, Pico Blanco (blue on left) will be joining our flock soon. Sprite is on of our babies. Her family loves her, but the newness wore off, and they aren't handled much anymore...cue the hormones of a female lovie, add a friend who may be a male...& you get cage bound birds & neither humans or birds are happy.

We will always take out babies back. And they can live out their days with us, unless they find a new family. Either way, there is no judgement & our greatest concern is the bird's health & happiness. We will keep you posted.

It also appears that our sweet Cricket, will stay here & be a pet/house bird. He has bonded with me & loves to 'help' with things! Our little Blue Bird is pending DNA s*x results & then he will be moving on to his new home.

It's pretty 'quiet' around here...we have purchased a new set of brooders & are now awaiting for new clutches!!

These little monsters are almost 6 weeks old & have started the weaning process...down to 4 feedings a day & beginning to sample millet & food by themselves. Feeding frenzy during hand feedings is an understatement !!

We pride ourselves on having the sweetest, well rounded baby birds. But did you know that we work closely with Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg? We halo with fostering birds brought in, as the shelter environment is way stressful on our little feathered friends.

I actually worked at that shelter in 1992, when it was Animal Shelter of Williamsburg.

Last night I got a text from a friend who works at HHS, with a plea from a bird owner. Her parakeets had babies...ranging from a little over 2 weeks old to 5 days old. The female died unexpectedly yesterday & she needed help with the babies. We went & pick up the 4 chicks this morning. They are settled in & have had their first hand feeding. The tee tiny one is a fighter & the loudest of the 4! It's also a very good eater. Didn't even have to tube it!! Hopefully we can get them all grown up & weaned.

Cricket now has roommates in its brooder. I guess he thinks he's going back to every 2 hour feedings...& I thought he was rotten before!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🦜
