What a whirlwind of a week!! Shelby and my niece, Ellie, had an absolute blast at the MFTHBA Show and Celebration this week. They participated in a youth fun show on Saturday, the 5th, at the versatility arena to get a feel for how May Bay and Foxy would behave. Both pairs did a great job. They joined the Egg in Spoon and Ride a Buck classes. I think Shelby was around 6th and Ellie 4th in Egg and the girls decided to call it a tie in Ride a Buck so the show could move on! Sunday was their first official class of the week. Shelby and Faye did leadline where every rider gets 1st. Then Shelby and Ellie did the Youth 12-14 class. Ellie took 4th. Shelby took 10th. It was a class of 12. Monday was the Youth Novice Rider class with 12 riders. Ellie took 2nd! Shelby got 3rd! Tuesday had no classes. Wednesday they carried the MFTHBA AND MFTHBYA flags! Then they did the Ba****ck Equitation (9 riders) and Open Amateur Novice (11 riders) classes. Ellie took 5th in Ba****ck, Shelby got 6th. In the Open Amateur class, Ellie got 1st and Shelby got 6th! Both of these classes were against adult riders so the girls did truly amazing! With that 1st place win, we ended up showing back on Thursday for the Open Amateur WGC (14 riders) class. Ellie got 5th and Shelby got 10th. Friday was a huge night for the girls. They did the Youth Jockey Change (9 pairs of riders) class on Foxy. Ellie rode the first way of the arena and then they switched for Shelby to ride the second way. They both did a great job and got a 1st place finish!! They did their victory lap double and Foxy hit a foxtrot all the way around! Video in another post. Saturday was our final night where the girls showed back in the Youth 12-14 WGC class. Ellie got 4th and Shelby got 8th. I can not express how pleased I am with how the girls and their horses did. It is not so much about their placings. They both got excellent rides from their horses with only two weeks worth of prep time! The show bug has hit and they have big plans for next year.

Doing a few practice runs. The girls want to try the ba****ck class... Maybe has never been to Ava so we wanted to let her experience the arena a bit before the show. I am looking forward to watching this pair tomorrow night and Monday. They are also planning to carry a flag on Wednesday and do another class. Then both girls are showing Foxy in the jockey change on Friday.

Practice, practice, practice!! Shelby has softball practice four days a week and game days as well but we still have to practice riding too. Today was game day and then we did our arena work. Shelby and May Bay are making good progress!! We are working on consistency. Shelby is learning the way to make a Missouri Fox Trotter gait correctly!

This week is the Spring Show for the Missouri Fox Trotter breed!! My mom and I took the girls over to watch the show and let Faye do lead line. Shelby got to lead her on Foxy with Granny walking along. My niece and I had cheer duty in the stands. The girls caught the show bug while there and we are now going to gear up to make the fall show. We tried to do this a few years ago but some things came up and our plan fell through. The girls are determined to make it happen this year.
