When we get to work with a dog from puppyhood through their training journey, we get to see that foundation grow into something real.

The goal was never just a “well trained dog.”
It was a dog who is confident, capable, and ready to navigate life with their family. 🤍

Watching them reach that point is why we do what we do.

Meet Ted. 👋 At just 5 months old, we’re introducing him to the slatmill as part of his foundation work.

No, we’re not trying to tire him out. And no, this isn’t about “making him tired so he behaves.”

It’s about introducing a new outlet, teaching him how to engage with equipment, and building confidence through controlled, age appropriate work.

Working breeds need outlets. Puppies need foundations. Ted is getting both.

Whether your dog is brand new to the sport or you’re looking to get some practice runs in, this is a fun way to introduce them to the thrill of the chase and let them do what they were bred to do!

Panting is a normal way for dogs to cool themselves down. The problem is when a brachycephalic dog is constantly struggling to breathe, even when resting or in a cool environment.

A Frenchie shouldn’t have to sound like they’re fighting for oxygen just to exist.

Normal panting = cooling down.
Excessive/noisy breathing = something worth paying attention to.

Breed-specific breathing problems should never be dismissed as “just a Frenchie thing.”

Genetics deserve an outlet.

For some dogs, that outlet is a tennis ball. For others, it’s scent work, herding, tracking, retrieving, protection work—or hunting.

We don’t need to suppress the traits that make a working breed who they are. We need to give those instincts an appropriate outlet, while teaching the control and obedience that make the work safe and purposeful.

Meet the dog you have. Understand what they were bred for. Give them a job.

Whether you’re completely new to lure coursing or your dog is already competing, this is a great opportunity to get on the field and put in some work.

This event is ideal for:
• Dogs new to the sport who want to experience lure coursing in a structured environment
• Experienced dogs looking to get additional practice runs
• Teams preparing for CAT runs in October and wanting to build confidence and familiarity before competition

A nervous dog doesn’t need a life where we avoid every trigger, every new place, and every uncomfortable situation.

They need a handler who can help them build confidence, learn coping skills, & navigate the world.

Management has its place. But the goal shouldn’t be to make their world smaller forever, it should be to give them the tools to make their world bigger!
