“My cat, Peet (aka Lord of the Porch Realm), has officially abandoned all beds, blankets, and sunbeams for this one glorious slab of coolness. She now lounges like a mafia boss overseeing his territory, tucked between a dead plant and a brick wall like it’s the Ritz-Carlton. At first, I thought, “There’s no way a cat will lie on something designed for them.” But no-Peet flopped down like she’d been training for this moment her whole life. She looked me dead in the eye as if to say, “Finally. You’ve done something right.”
