Furgiven Animal Sanctuary (“FAS”) is a nonprofit, no-kill organization that is dedicated to creating second, second-chance opportunities for overlooked dogs. Our focus lies in partnering with public shelters to prevent the euthanasia of dogs and local no-kill shelters by transitioning their long-term, left-behind dogs to a sanctuary where they can be a priority regardless of age, breed, or ease of placement. At FAS, we believe that providing a more intimate, individual atmosphere for dogs in these specific circumstances increases their chances of finding forever homes while promoting the animal-human bond within our community of the Greater Midsouth & Tri-State area. In addition to being a sanctuary for dogs overlooked, FAS assists (through scheduled events) with free or discounted veterinary services, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and training support services for current or future pet owners and advocates. Our comprehensive adoption process and support services promote thoughtful, healthy relationships among animals and adopters and offer lifetime support to our residents. Animals in our care are spayed/neutered and receive all necessary treatments, vaccinations, and veterinary care for the duration of their time with us, regardless of adoption status.

CHEETO - ADOPTED 🎉

We are so incredibly excited to announce that our little wiggly, awoo-ing, grass loving boy has been ADOPTED!

Cheeto came to us with a neurological condition, as a rescue transfer after being apprehended from a hoarding situation. He is now going to live out the remainder of his life with an incredible family!

Congratulations on finding your forever home sweet Cheeto. We will miss you but know you are in amazing hands! 🐾❤️

SUSHI - TESTING WHEELS & UPDATE 🛞

Current total raised: $3505/$5000 needed

Happy Saturday! You all have blown us away with your support for Sushi, thank you so much. After our donations hit $1000 yesterday and we unlocked our donor match, we had another individual come forward and match it AGAIN! That brings us past the halfway mark, to $3005 raised towards Sushi’s amputation and mass removal surgeries🎉

How good does she look standing in a wheelchair?! We have been trying her out with a few different wheelchair options, and now know exactly what options need to be ordered for her custom cart. Stay tuned!

We have less than $2000 remaining to raise to fully fund Sushi’s surgeries and equipment. Please help us get the remainder covered if you can.

SUSHI - DONOR MATCH MET! 🎉

We are so happy to share that we reached the $1000 mark on Sushi’s fundraiser for her surgeries, and thanks to our donor match, it immediately doubled to $2000! Thank you so much to our match donor, and to everyone who contributed to the first $1000 raised. We appreciate you all so much!

Hitting the $2000 mark puts us just $500 away from being HALFWAY THERE! Let’s keep the momentum going, and get Sushi the care she needs!

SUSHI - UPDATE 🚨

Sushi continues to settle in well with us here at the sanctuary. She is SO sweet!

An update on her back legs: Although Sushi’s impression of a four way stop, yoga instructor, and letter T are undeniably impressive…her back legs aren’t serving her any functional purpose. We are continuing to plan a double amputation, which will reduce complications for catching the limbs while scooting around, drag wounds, and ongoing pain from the dislocations of her hips. Leg removal will also reduce the weight her front end is pulling, make for easier wheelchair use, and overall put her quality of life at the forefront.

We currently have an active donor match offer that we are very close to unlocking! When we raise $1000, that immediately doubles to $2000 for Sushi. We have $829/$1000 raised so far, leaving $171 to go! This will help us get much closer to our total $5000 overall funding goal for her surgeries, new wheelchair, wagon and care.
