ZOOM HM EDUCATION

We are kicking off the restart of our Zoom Series tonight with Land Conservation! The Oregon Region of The United States Pony Clubs is once again holding their 20 part zoom series on all things Horse Management including Conditioning your Horse, Equine Diseases, Stable Management, Toxic Plants & Parasites and the Pasture Management to control them.

It is FREE to Pony Club Members and $10 per meeting to non-Pony clubbers.

I spent the last two days testing for United States Pony Clubs to achieve my HB Certification and it’s DONE!! I passed with 10 of 31 sections Exceeding Standards! It was an endeavor to study and get prepared for this testing while also running a barn, teaching a full riding school and lesson program and having a packed show season. If I can do it, any Pony Clubber can 🫶🏻

The Oregon Region’s NEWLY MINTED *HB*s!!!

Elora, Emma, Amy, and Adria spent the last two days showcasing their hard work and knowledge, impressing the three National Examiners from across the USA.

This testing could not be done without the extraordinary generosity of Stephanie Oliveria, letting us invade and take over her property, barns, and house(!) for three full days!! It’s such a beautiful location and suits the testing so well. You are incredible Stephanie 🫶🏻🏆 She was also our IO for the weekend 😱😇

Also Kirin, our RS, for organizing it again because our RIC (Amy) was testing and couldn’t be the organizer. Flawless hostess as usual and your chili dinner is always so delicious.

Debra Sue, Rebecca, and Kim, our National Examiners, were so amazing to work with and made the testing feel less daunting. They really exemplify what pony club support and encouragement even while holding a high standard can look like.

4 months… his first BN at Aspen to his 4th and hopefully last at Aspen, as we move up to N. The concentration and determination are very different. The conditions are very different. I cannot believe that we made time, with some to spare, barefoot in slippery wet conditions when almost every other horse I know in our division had studs… it wasn’t that bad 🤷🏼‍♀️ the idea you HAVE to have studs baffles me. Teach your horse to read the ground, to adapt, studs have their place for sure… just surprised the ones with them this weekend had time cause Aspen’s footing is perfection 😘

Lindsay and Gingersnap stepped up to Novice this weekend! Solid dressage with the improvements we’ve been working on showing thru. Two miscommunications in stadium were unfortunate as they were putting in such a stellar round otherwise, but now we have clear homework for winter! However, they CRUSHED their first Novice XC together in the RAIN 🌧️ which they haven’t experienced together yet! It’s was a big techy course and then throw rain overnight and thru their class, calling for studs for the first time, and they cruised around like it was a perfect day and they are old hats at this. PROUD does not even touch how thrilled I am for these two 🤩🤩🤩 Lindsay Frank Keeney

WHAT a way to end the season!!! Tucker carried me to FIRST in the Open Beginner Novice at beautiful Aspen Farms 💗 Despite it raining all night and morning of XC and us going near the end of the day; he was bold, brave and ready to take on the course. I had my concerns of letting him challenge his pacing because he is barefoot and had slipped a little here at the spring event without rain or chewed up paths. He never put a foot wrong, made good decisions about balance before I even had to ask. He’s just such a cool little dude 😍🐎🪽 Big thanks to my Stubben saddles for making it a breeze to stick with my little mighty man!

Not our best part as he was starting to feel a little tired but he’s such a good honest boy. Nothing phased him out there. Just better fitness and we should be fine for Novice next year!

By fence 4, I realized they put Tiny Dancer🕺on for us since Tucker’s show name is ESP Tiny Dancer. While he’s not actually named after the song, it does make me smile when shows do it for us cause well… he IS a Tiny Dancer. And as always, entertaining commentary from Jamie 🤣

Area VII Championships is a wrap! Tucker and I had a fantastic weekend competing and cheering on our horsey friends. Tucker as always was a steadfast, willing partner the whole weekend. He charmed all the kids and parents in our barn aisle so got lots of attention (and treats!). We finished in 5th in a competitive Open Beginner Novice class with our fellow pros. And boy does Area VII spoil their championship riders! Swag bag with lots of goodies, prizes for finishing a champs class, and stellar prizes for placing! Not to mention ton the ribbon practically hits the ground from Tucker’s head it’s so long 😂

Thank you Area VII for yet another fantastic season!
