Long post! There will be photos and video in the comments. However, we must warn you, they will be disturbing to those who actually care about animals.
Three dogs were abandoned at the bridge on Highway 1000.
Let that sink in.
THREE LIVES were apparently dumped and left to fend for themselves.
By the time we got there, one was already dead in the road.
Another was barely alive. Its condition was so terrible and its suffering so severe that the kindest thing we could do was let it go peacefully. 💔
And the third? It is still out there. Terrified. Feral. In horrible condition. So scared of humans that we haven't been able to catch it.
And I have to ask…
Would you crawl into a culvert to save a dog? Would you walk through weeds taller than you, knowing you have no idea what may be hiding underneath? Would you climb down embankments, through rocks and mud, searching for an animal that someone else threw away?
Because THAT is what we do.
We go where these animals are left.
We crawl. We climb. We search. We sweat. We get scratched up. We risk our own safety trying to save animals that someone else couldn't be bothered to properly care for.
Why we're angry.
THIS IS WHY.
Someone made the decision to take three living, breathing dogs and abandon them at a bridge.
One is dead.
One had to be euthanized because the suffering was too severe.
And one is still out there, scared and suffering, because whatever happened to it before being dumped has taught it that humans are something to fear.
Dumping your animals is NOT “giving them a chance.”
It's not rescue. It's not rehoming. It's not humane.
It's abandonment. And sometimes, abandonment ends exactly like this.
So before you decide that dropping an animal off somewhere is easier than asking for help, remember these three dogs.
Remember the one lying dead in the road.
Remember the one who suffered until there was nothing left we could do but end that suffering.
And remember the one still hiding, terrified, sick, and alone.
WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON THE ONE THAT IS STILL OUT THERE.
But whoever did this should be ashamed.
