You can pack your suitcase quietly.

You can sneak clothes into the bag when they're in another room.

You can swear you're “just going to the store.”

But somehow…

🐶 The dog KNOWS.
🐱 The cat KNOWS.
🐴 The horse KNOWS.
🐔 The chickens probably know before you do.

🐾 LEAVING YOUR PET WITH A SITTER? HERE'S WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW! 🐾

Even if your pet sitter has cared for your animals before, a quick refresher can make things SO much easier while you're away. ❤️

Before you leave, make sure your sitter knows:

🍽️ Feeding instructions — what, how much, and when
💊 Medications — dose, timing, and how they're given
🚪 House rules — doors, gates, alarms, and anything that needs to stay closed
📞 Emergency contacts — your vet + someone local who can help if you're unreachable
🐾 Personality quirks — nervous around strangers? Escape artist? Hates the vacuum?
❤️ Normal behavior — what's normal for YOUR pet so your sitter can recognize when something isn't
🧹 Anything unusual — recent changes, injuries, appetite changes, or anything you're keeping an eye on

And PLEASE don't worry that you're giving your sitter “too much information.”

There is no such thing as too much information when someone is caring for your family. 🥰

🐾 PET SITTER TIP: KEEP THEIR ROUTINE AS NORMAL AS POSSIBLE 🐾

When you leave town, your pet already has one big change to deal with: you aren't there. ❤️

Keeping the rest of their routine familiar can help make things easier on them.

Try to keep their:

🍽️ Feeding times
🚶 Potty/walk schedule
💊 Medication schedule
😴 Bedtime routine
🎾 Play & enrichment
🐾 Normal household routines

as consistent as possible.

And don't forget to tell your pet sitter about the little things that might seem unimportant to you.

Does your dog need their bowl moved away from the cat?
Does your cat only eat if you sit nearby?
Does your senior pet need extra time getting up?
Does your bird have a very specific morning routine?

Those little details matter.

The more your pet's normal routine can stay intact, the more comfortable they can be while you're away. 🐶🐱🐴🐔🦎❤️

Anyone can stop by, fill a bowl, let a dog outside, and leave.

But when your animals are in my care, I want them to feel like their normal routine hasn’t completely disappeared just because you’re away. ❤️

That means:

🐶 Play & enrichment
🐱 Attention for the cats who want it-and patience for the ones who don't
🐔 Making sure farm animals are cared for properly
🦎 Understanding the unique needs of exotics
💊 Following care instructions carefully
📸 Keeping you updated while you're away
❤️ And giving your animals genuine one-on-one attention

Because they're not just another stop on my schedule.

They're someone's family.

And that's exactly how I treat them. 🐾

I have a confession to make…

I absolutely talk to your pets like they understand every word I’m saying. 😂

And yes, I give them updates about my day.
Yes, I ask them questions and wait for an answer.
Yes, I tell them how handsome/pretty they are approximately 47 times during a visit.

And honestly… I’m pretty sure they understand me. 🤷‍♀️

🐾 It’s the little things.

Sometimes pet sitting is just making sure they have food and water.

But sometimes it’s sitting on the floor with the nervous dog who needs a little extra reassurance.

It’s playing with the cat who’s been waiting all day for someone to come home.

It’s letting the chickens out, checking the horses, giving the senior pup some extra attention, or spending a few extra minutes with the animal who just wants company.

Those little things are a pretty big part of what we do. ❤️

Your pets don’t have to wonder when you’ll be home. They get someone who actually spends time with them while you’re gone.

And honestly… getting paid to hang out with animals all day isn’t a bad gig. 🐾

JUST LOOK AT THIS HAPPY LITTLE CLIENT!

This is what we like to see while our clients are away — comfortable, relaxed, and completely unbothered.

One of the best parts of pet sitting is knowing that your pets don’t have to leave the comfort of their own home while you’re away.

They get to stick to their normal routines, enjoy some extra attention, and apparently… take some very serious naps. 💤🐾

Because sometimes the best review a pet sitter can get is a sleeping cat who looks like they haven’t had a worry in the world.
