Ghost Story Part 3: The Grand Finale 👻

Did you think we were done telling Ghost stories? Grab your popcorn, because the final chapter is officially here, and the results are anything but spooky!

Once Ghost mastered his neutrality and impulse control around heavy traffic with us, it was time for the most important step: passing the leash. We spent a few intensive, hands-on lessons coaching his owners until they were getting the exact same rock-solid focus and beautiful teamwork out in public.

And the real proof is in the results at home! His owners let us know that they’ve been practicing daily walks, testing out the new bite pillow, and working on off-leash heeling right in their own yard—the very place where Ghost used to struggle with chasing cars the most. Seeing him thrive safely with his family is the absolute best reward.

Ghost story part 1

Ghost the Malinois/Dutch Shepherd Mix

Ghost came to us with a dangerous fixation on chasing cars. With a high-drive dog like Ghost, that impulse might always be there, so our goal is to give him something he wants even more. We are building an "addiction" to the toy and deep engagement with the handler. By making the toy and the work more rewarding than the chase, we’re creating a much safer mindset. When he chooses us over the distraction, he gets the ultimate reward: a release to his favorite tug!

It’s all about building confidence, safety, and a better relationship between dog and handler.

Ghost is crushing his goals! 💥

When Ghost came to us, his owners had one main priority: to be able to take him out in public safely-with no chasing after cars.

To make that a reality, we don’t just train inside a bubble. We’ve been taking Ghost to various locations to proof his heeling around cars, slowly building up his focus around his biggest triggers. All that hard work made it possible for him to successfully work right in the busiest part of Hudson—handling cars, people, and other dogs galore!

Real-world safety takes real-world training, and we are so proud of this boy's progress!

Drogon earned his MACH 5 this past Friday at Dream Dogs from the Portchester Agility trial! 1st place in both Standard and JWW (Jumpers with Weaves) A MACH 5 means he has QQ'ed 100 times. A big thank you to Jill Conroy for taking the time to video AND for announcing our MACH!!! She's the best!

For friends and followers who are not use to the agility lingo here is an explanation of a MACH.

MACH stands for Master Agility Champion in dog agility, representing the highest level of achievement in the sport recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). To earn this title, a dog must accumulate a minimum of 750 championship points by running faster than the standard course time and achieve 20 "double qualifying" scores, which are achieved by qualifying in both the Standard and Jumpers With Weaves classes on the same day.
Why it's the highest honor-
The MACH title signifies a dog is both fast and consistent.
Achieving the title requires a dog to be consistently superior in both speed and accuracy over many competitions.
