Hi Digby!!

This big goofy man has been with us for a couple weeks and has been a blast to get to know!

Mr Digby was recently adopted and shortly after his family noticed some significant behavioral concerns so they got him signed up for an evaluation which lead to him starting training!

Digby can be wary of strangers and he has learned how to make people move out of his space by using his size and teeth, all of it stemming from a place of insecurity! He also loves to tell dogs how he feels about them when out on walks!

Over the past couple weeks we have been working on shifting his mindset towards people, showing him that he is safe and can trust us to help him through situations he feels uncomfortable with! We have also been working on showing him that he can be neutral to other dogs!

We cannot wait to see his circle expand as he continues to trust more and tackle the world with all his skills!

Adorable Mr. Dewey!

This guy is here for a quick 2 week board & train before his mom moves across the country for school! She wanted a little help fine tuning some things before they start their new chapter in life together!

While Dewey is with us for such a short period of time, we still have plenty of time to fine tune his already wonderful skills!! We are working on some loose leash walking skills, building a communication system between him & his mom, engagement, & continuing to push his neutrality to ALL environments!

He has done so amazing this week & we are sad we won’t get to see him as much after his training, but we hope he comes to visit! 🖤

Hello Merry!

This sweetie popped in for the week to polish up some skills and get her used to the facility before a longer stay this winter!

While she’s here we have been letting her settle into life at the facility while focusing on neutrality and generalizing the skills she knows while also pushing the difficulty at which she can handle! She came to use with a fabulous foundation so some light polishing is all that we needed!

It’s been a blast having her at the facility this weekend and we cannot wait to hear about all the things Merry and her family accomplish before her next stay!

Hi I’m Tucker!

I’m your average Corgi puppy! I’m sweet, spicy, sassy, & super smart! My parents said that it was time for me to get on with my academic career & signed me up for school at Macho K9 Training. I’ve been here for almost two weeks now & I am at the top of my class!

My studies include learning how to be tolerant to grooming (nail trims, brushing, bathing), engagement in different environments (so I can be a patio buddy), building a communication system, being polite when greeting guests, & most importantly- finding me breed specific outlets so I can be fulfilled!

I can’t wait to show off all my new skills in a few more weeks! I love coming to school every day & having a job! My parents are gunna be so proud of me!

This welcome post is a bit different than our normal posts as we are actually hoping to find this “little” guy his forever home!

Kurt is a bi-colored German shepherd puppy!! He is 8 months old and a very happy, sweet, goofy guy! He takes a little time to warm up in new places and with new people, before he shows off his super silly side. He has no reactivity to dogs or people! He’s actually incredibly neutral!

He has no formal training thus far but as he spends time with us we will be working on that! Kurt will come with a lifetime of FREE training from us here at Macho K9 Training.

He would be a great first dog or addition to a pack! He can easily be a go anywhere, do anything kind of dog with someone that will focus on relationship and fulfillment first!

He comes from a great line of German Shepherds that trained for IGP and police work but Kurt is NOT suited for bite sports! He is THE PERFECT pet. Kurt will come with AKC paperwork where you can change his name.

Trigg and Costco being the best errand buddies at Natural Pet Center | Pet Food & Supplies in Fargo, ND! Practicing their engagement, heeling, sits, and downs in a new place to continue generalizing their skills!

Did you know that dogs aren’t naturally good at generalizing? We have to show them they can do behaviors in a lots of different places to help them build a solid understanding of their skills, the more repetitions the easier it becomes for them to generalize!

Three new CGC’s in the Macho K9 house!!

Ham, Mabel, and Benny’s humans have put in so much work to get them past dog reactivity, stranger danger and building their overall confidence to be able to take this test!

So so proud of these three! Keep killing it! ❤️

Test items:
- accept a friendly stranger
- sit politely for petting
- grooming
- walk skills
- walking through a crowd
- sit and down on cue plus a stay at a distance
- recall
- reaction to distraction
- reaction to another dog
- supervised separation (3minutes)

Hello Trigg!

This sweet boy is a typical adolescent lab! He is down for whatever but that comes with a side of chaos! Everything in life tends to be too exciting which leads to some unwanted behaviors like jumping and mouthing!

Trigg is on week two of school and he’s flourishing! He’s starting to self regulate, building his obedience and neutrality, and loves learning! We have three weeks left with this boy and we will be finishing off his obedience skills, continuing to foster his ability to self regulate, take him out and about to generalize his new state of mind and skills, and work on recall so his park time allows for more freedom!

We are so excited to watch Trigg grow into the best version of himself and save mom’s arms from all the mouthing!

Running into the week with two new accomplishments for the Macho K9 pack! Bean and Mabel got new Fast CAT titles!

Bean got her BCAT title! Her fastest run this weekend was 22.96 mph with a time of 8.91 seconds!

Mabel got her DCAT title! Mable’s top speed this weekend was 28.93, meaning she ran 100 yards in 7.07 seconds! (Yes, this is crazy fast!)

What is Fast CAT? It’s a dog sport where your dog runs a 100 yard dash chasing a lure! Think of a flirt pole but in a straight line!

When you do a little math you calculate the dog’s speed in miles per hour! Depending on their height they may get a handicap but these two they don’t get one! The speed they run is then turned into points! A BCAT title is earned when you accumulate 150 points and DCAT is 500 points!

We recommend Mabel try Fast CAT on a whim knowing she loves to run and there was a local event last year and it’s been so fun to watch her find so much joy in it! It’s always fun to win ribbons and collect titles but truly the best part is watching the dogs do something they love!

On our first year, we have accomplished so much!! This is just the beginning! 🐾

If you didn’t know, it’s just the two of us (Hannah & Hailey) that are here all day, every day. Just the two of us that play with your dogs, love on your dogs, & teach your dogs. Every single dog that steps foot into our facility, we care for as if they are our own. Anything we do with them, we would do with our own dogs. They are our family. YOU are our family. We are eternally grateful for all of you & for all of you showing us the love back!! We are second most rated Dog Trainers in the area!!!! 🖤

Congrats to Sydney & her team over at Prairie Dog for the Platinum! Sydney is an amazing person & has cheered us on since we have started, a true testament to her character. ☺️
