Our veterinary hospital will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday with their two- and four-legged family members! ❤️🤍💙

We’re excited to introduce you to a familiar face in a new role! ❤️

Carley, our new Practice Manager has been part of our team since 2022, assisting with appointments and helping provide excellent care to our patients and their families. Since 2024, she has also been an important part of our management team, and we’re excited to see her take the next step in her career with us!

🎓 She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from North Dakota State University (NDSU), along with a minor in Agribusiness.

🐶🐶 Outside of work, she’s kept busy by her two Australian Shepherds, Tex and Pua, and her two cats, Monkey and Merida! 🐱🐱

We are so excited to have her stepping into the role of Practice Manager and look forward to all she will bring to our team! Please help us congratulate her on her new position! 🎉🐾

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Kayla, who has been working in veterinary medicine for 7 years—and has spent all 7 of those years here at Two Rivers Veterinary Hospital! 🩺🐾

Kayla’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is performing abdominal ultrasounds and caring for those cats who just “aren’t acting right.” 🐱 She has a special soft spot for our feline patients—and we’re sure her 20-year-old cat, Sammy, has something to do with that! ❤️

🐾 Kayla’s tip for pet owners: Don’t overlook the importance of annual lab work for senior pets! Routine bloodwork can help your veterinary team catch changes early and keep your aging pets feeling their best.

☀️ Sun safety isn’t just for people—it’s important for pets, too! 🐶🐱

Just like us, dogs and cats can get sunburned, especially on areas with thin or no fur like their nose, ears, eyelids, and belly. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to painful burns and increase the risk of skin damage over time.

If your pet will be spending time outdoors:
💚 Use a pet-safe sunscreen on exposed areas (never use human sunscreen unless directed by your veterinarian).
💙 Provide plenty of fresh water and access to shade.
💚 Avoid long periods outside during the hottest part of the day.
💙 Watch for signs of sunburn, including redness, tenderness, or peeling skin.

A little extra protection can help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable all summer long! 🌞🐾

Today is World Mosquito Day🦟

What you’re seeing in this video are microfilariae — the microscopic baby stage of heartworms circulating in the bloodstream of an infected pet. Mosquitoes pick up these parasites when they bite an infected animal and can then spread heartworm disease to others.

Heartworm disease is serious, potentially life-threatening, and far easier to prevent than treat. That’s why year-round heartworm prevention is so important — even during colder months. Just one missed dose can leave pets vulnerable.

Summer adventures by the water are even better when your furry friends are protected! 💙💚 Before your pet jumps in, remember:

🦺 Use a properly fitted life jacket, especially on boats or for pets who tire easily.
💧 Bring fresh drinking water—don’t let your pet rely on pool, lake, or salt water.
☀️ Watch for overheating and take plenty of breaks in the shade.
🧼 Rinse and dry your pet after swimming to help prevent skin and ear irritation.
👀 Most importantly, never leave your pet unattended around water.
