Olde English Babydoll Sheep The "Teddy Bear Sheep with a Smile" are a great addition to any small farm. These sheep are gentle in nature and remain small.

They stand no more than two feet tall at the shoulders and weigh between 70 to 140 lbs.

We thank everyone that has followed us along the years on our Olde English Babydoll Sheep page. The Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep are truly a wonderful breed of sheep. After twenty plus years of raising and breeding these wonderful sheep I have decided to not breed anymore. We will maintain a small flock here at the Olde Homestead with our other animals. We'll simply enjoy the ewes that have given us so many beautiful lambs. Corky, our very devoted wether, will remain here with us also.

We will no longer have lambs for sale. If you are searching for lambs we recommend the website for the Olde English Babydoll Southdown Registry.

If you would like to follow the happenings of all the animals here on the farm please watch for updates on the page The Olde Homestead. Our non-profit, Six Feet Forward Inc, will have updates on programs being offered here on the farm also.

We have two ewes that are three years old available. They both are 3/4 Babydoll and 1/4 Harlequin. So not registered. They were both great moms this Spring. We will only sell them together. Please PM me for more information.

Valentine’s Day has been busy. Velvet delivered a little doe and a little buck. Meet Valentine and Valentino. Then Rahab delivered twin does. Vaughn wants to name them Victoria and Secret. That might be negotiated. Valentino has a heart on the back of his neck.

What an appropriate prayer for this weekend.

A Farmer’s Prayer Before the Freeze

Tonight, we ask for mercy in the cold.
For wind that softens its grip,
for temperatures that ease just enough
to let life hold on.

Watch over the animals tucked into straw and wood,
the quiet breaths in barns and coops,
the ones who trust us without words.
Keep them warm where our hands can’t reach.

Bless the fences, the heaters, the water lines,
the lamps glowing through the dark.
Bless the tired hands that checked one more time,
and the hearts that won’t rest until morning.

We’ve done what we can.
Now we place the rest in Your care.
Carry us through the long night,
and let the morning come gentle.

Amen 🤍

The Zebus are enjoying the morning sun. Ginger was a bit chilly this morning so we put a blanket on her until the day warms up. She traveled North from Snow Valley Farm yesterday. Bunny is showing her the ropes today. Which includes enjoying the sunrise and watching the goats.

Chip decided to sleep right in front of where the wind and snow could blow in last night. He looks like an Appaloosa Alpaca. Oh, I should let you know there are plenty of places to sleep in the barn without the wind.

This picture tells a story to me. Taken tonight this shows our oldest ewe, who manages to still go out to pasture with crippling arthritis, and one of this year’s ewe lambs eating hay that is put in the corner for the lamb to eat. They have formed a special bond. Last night they lay side by side to rest, and I’m guessing they will again tonight. It reminds me of my son Andrew, setting and spending time with his great grandfather, and of my son David spending time with my mom. What a blessing to have the young and old in our lives, and the fact that they can enjoy the same things in life.
