Before your most recent appointment you may have received a text message about submitting a video of your pet for something called Shepherd Lens. This is a new feature included in physical exams.
So why are we asking for you to video tape your pet walking around?
It’s not uncommon for a pet that’s limping at home to come to the office and be as spry as a puppy. Or a cat that has trouble jumping on to their favorite spot now just cowers in the corner of the carrier. Sometimes we ask if your pet has trouble when they first try to get up in the morning and once you think about it you realize you have noticed that.
Catching things like arthritis early can mean earlier intervention and a longer, happier, more active life for your pet. And who doesn’t want their pet to have that?
So we have brought in Shepherd Lens to help with that. This tool lets you get your pet moving in a series of different actions, from left to right, forward to back, and then transitioning from sit to stand (or lying to standing).
The video is assessed for any abnormalities by AI but also by your doctor before you’re even in the building.
We took a short video with Lady, you may recognize her from the office. And yes bribery is totally fine to use, we offered Lady a treat to walk around for her video.
Stay tuned for more information and let us know your feedback. We want to help you get the most out of your visits to the office.
