🍀 we planned for the rain today the radar looks clear for our adjusted schedule with an 8am start time!
Horse Show’s with opportunities and education will always be my favorite and sometimes I am reminded to my core why I do this!
Yesterday, King tested the Limit Medal (2’3” Competitors, horses and riders who have done a medal, who have not ever done a medal and who have not in quite some time)…and the test was legit…walk through the gate, canter directly and over fence 7, canter fence 3, trot fence 8, canter fence 2, down centerline towards the gate demonstrate 2 changes of lead and WALK out of the ring. I was impressed with the ex*****on of said test…admittedly each rider had a “mistake” or rushed or become overwhelmed with pressure or their horse wasn’t “medal test sharp.”
And then a really special thing happened…authentically in line with our values…the Judge, an avid supporter of our sport called the riders to the booth and took the time to talk through it, step by step with details they missed. And then, we tested again.
Each combination improved…then left the ring with a better understanding of their individual homework and learned from the opportunity…and this…this is what it’s all about. This is why we are on year 13 of hosting local horse shows and why we are committed to continue until “it isn’t fun anymore!” This is horses and among the chaos of hosting and training and Mom-ing and packing and wife-ing and living was this vivid reminder of why we started in the first place!
See y’all at Rock River or back here in July for “further testing, additional schooling preferred”…luck favors the prepared and we hope y’all enjoy the process!
***we draw live for the Electric Scooter today at 9am….stay tuned***
