Anyone who needs a grooming appointment for tomorrow I have two spots left a 1030am and an 11am. Reminder that I am on vacation from October 28th to November 2nd, so if you need that stinky dog to get clean or his toe beans are getting too long and you hear the clicky clack on the floor, shoot me a message or text and we’ll see what we can schedule

Here’s something that surprises a lot of people: a longer coat doesn’t automatically mean a warmer dog. What keeps a dog comfortable is a clean, dry, brushed-out coat, because that’s what traps warm air close to the body. When the coat gets matted or damp, the tangles squish that air out and hold moisture against the skin. A dog in a long, matted coat can actually be colder than a dog in a well-kept moderate length.

That’s why we don’t think of winter length as “the longer the better.” A little longer than their summer cut is often plenty for extra coverage on cold walks, and it’s much easier to keep in good shape.

When you’re picking a length, think about your real life. How much snow and mud does your dog tromp through? How many walks are you taking? How many minutes can you honestly give to brushing each week? The best winter length is the one you can keep up with.

If you’d like help deciding, we’re happy to talk it through at your dog’s next visit.
