Before every walk, check the ground: not just the air temperature. 🐾
Pet Concierge’s free Dog Walk Heat Safety Tool uses current weather data for your ZIP code to estimate local grass, concrete, and asphalt temperatures hour by hour.
It also provides general heat-risk guidance for dogs who may be more vulnerable, including:
• Flat-faced breeds
• Senior dogs and puppies
• Thick- or dark-coated dogs
• Overweight dogs
See whether conditions are categorized as safe, caution, unsafe, or dangerous, then choose the best time and surface for your dog’s walk.
Our tool offers general guidance, and actual surface temperatures can vary with shade, sunlight, moisture, and local conditions. Always confirm with the seven-second pavement test: place the back of your hand on the walking surface for seven seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.
