The mystery is solved.

After yesterday’s guessing game, Dr. Ryan performed exploratory surgery to safely remove the foreign object, and now we finally have the big reveal. A tiny piece of Rubber Foam. We suspect the owner has a corner missing from their yoga mat.

Pets are curious, quick, and sometimes way too committed to eating things that are absolutely not food. If you think your pet swallowed something unusual, don’t wait it out. X-rays and early care can make a big difference.

She’s Back. She’s Back.

After 5 long months, Gina has returned; knee brace and all.

One knee replacement, one broken ankle, one muscle tear repair… and somehow, still more energy than the rest of us.

We’re thrilled.
Our patients are thrilled.
And honestly, the most fun just walked back through the door.

Welcome back, Gina!

Well, folks, tip your hats and make room in the bunkhouse… There's a new dog in town.

Meet Newton, the newest member of the Old West Lawmen. He’s a mere 10 weeks old, but don’t let that fool you. This little cowboy is already built like he’s headed straight for Best of Breed, with enough fluff to fill a saddle blanket and paws that say he’s got a whole lot of growing to do.

Big brother Virgil better get your play on, because this young fella is riding in with confidence, charm, and a future that looks downright HUGE.

Welcome to the family, Newton. We reckon you’re gonna fit in just fine. 🤠🐾

Quick Tips and Tricks from the Care Crew at Wentzville Vet Clinic 🐾☀️

Does your dog have a ton of hair, go hard on hikes, or just seem to melt in the heat?

Here’s a better warm-weather tip to keep on hand:
Keep a spray bottle of 70% alcohol to 30% water-cool water with you, and lightly mist your dog’s paw pads, belly, groin, and feet. Then get them into shade or air conditioning, and let the evaporation help them cool down.

Dogs do not cool themselves the way people do. They rely mostly on panting, not sweating, so heat can build up quickly, especially in very active, thick-coated, flat-faced, or already prone-to-heat dogs.

Watch for overheating signs like:
▪ heavy panting
▪ thick drool
▪ seeking shade
▪ slowing down
▪ seeming tired
▪ bright red gums.

If you see those signs, start cooling your dog with the mixture, reduce activity, and move your dog to a cooler area.

Hot weather tip from our crew:
Pack your cooling spray bottle for walks and outdoor adventures.

Memorial Day Weekend Hours 🇺🇸🐾

Both our Wentzville and Troy clinics will be closed Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

We’ll be back after a weekend of BBQ, relaxing with family, and remembering the brave men and women who helped keep us free.

Please plan ahead and pick up any medications, prescription refills, or prescription food by the end of the day on Friday, May 22.

And since we know there may be pork steaks on the grill this weekend, here’s your friendly vet reminder: if you’re sharing a little pork or pork bone with your dog, keep it plain. Wash off any sauce or seasoning first. We know, boring, right? But boring is much better than a case of pancreatitis from rich, fatty foods.

For after-hours emergencies, please contact:
- VSS West: 636-244-9004
- Animal Emergency Clinic O’Fallon: 636-240-5496

Wishing you, your family, and your pets a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.
