Most people we work with aren’t doing too little with their dog.

They’re doing a lot.

Long walks. Extra activity. Trying to get ahead of the behavior.

And sometimes… it helps. For a little while.

But if your dog is still barking, pacing, or struggling to settle, even after all that effort, you’re not alone.

Now, to be fair, some dogs do need more exercise.

But the clients we see most often?
They’re already doing more than enough… and still stuck.

At that point, it’s usually not about doing more.

It’s about what hasn’t been taught yet.

A tired dog isn’t always a calm dog.

And calm is the part that changes everything.

If you're relying on exercise to manage behaviors, this is what we're talking about:

Sarah got Pippa, a working line Australian Cattle Dog, for her birthday June of 2022. She chose this 🌶️ 🧨 👹 dog specifically to be challenged! She wanted to know just how hard a hard puppy is!

We’ve spent hours building this puppy guide for those of you who want to start off on the right paw, so to speak. It has EVERY lesson our in-person Team Puppy program has just boiled down to thirteen pages. We wanted it to be accessible and available to a wide range of people. It is for ALL breeds, sizes, shapes, and households. Share it, gift it, buy it for a refresher. It’s our core lessons on how to have a good dog, just worded specifically for dogs 8-16 weeks old.

Sigh. Learning how to be a good napper. It takes human patience and loving kindness to teach your dog how to settle, when You want them settle. Not when they’ve run out of energy but because you trained them how to relax!🤗

This little dog used to bark and bark at everything. When you weigh just 7 pounds the world can seem kind of scary. When her owner learned how to step up and advocate for her and teach her how to settle there was less barking. There was less nervousness. Zoe learned how to settle and how to remain calm for longer and longer periods of time. It just takes practice. It’s not easy, but it’s simple.

Family means everyone: Chosen family, family meaning you and your dog, meaning the people you are in community with. Whatever family looks like to you, we’re here to support you all.

Dog training requires vulnerability and trust. When you choose a trainer, you want a partnership that feels safe and comfortable. We may push you and talk about the uncomfortable bits of dog ownership, leadership, and life, but we meet you where you are in life and help you get to the next level. No matter who you are or how you define your own family.

We go into detail about what “creating a family-centered canine life” means. Check it out on our About page.

Wellness encompasses mind, body, and soul. One supports the others and if one is off, it throws the others off. We all want balance and wellness in our lives. A dog that lunges, barks, resource guards, or is just plain bratty is a symptom of an off-balance relationship. Our comprehensive dog training isn't just "sit" and "stay," it's about transforming your relationship with your dog in order to have more fun together. Read our post about setting a dog training resolution for 2025!

As we look to 2024, it’s a great time to reflect and set new dog training goals. Often personal health and wellness are at the top of the list for new year’s resolutions. But how do our dogs figure into our resolutions?

Can a person be successful without using tools to change their dog’s behavior? Absolutely. But using these tools to train your dog speeds up the process and makes your consistent training effort very efficient. The use of training tools in our program can produce fast results.

Training tools have a bad reputation which is unfair and often based on improper use. Correctly conditioning your dog to understand exactly what you are asking of him is key. Through our process, we work with you and your dog to create a system of communicating your expectations through gentle leash pressure.

Training tools like prong collars have a bad reputation which is unfair and often based on improper use. Learn the why with Dog Coach.
