🌟 Happy National Vet Tech Week! 🌟
If you’ve ever had your pet seen at our clinic, you know our doctors provide incredible diagnoses and treatment plans. But it’s our Veterinary Technicians that are the first to cuddle your pet when they’re scared, the sharp eyes monitoring their vitals in surgery, and the reassuring voice on the phone explaining a treatment plan.
Veterinary Technicians are licensed professionals who wear dozens of hats every single day:
🩺 The Nurse: Managing treatments, IV lines, and wound care.
🧪 The Phlebotomist & Lab Tech: Running crucial diagnostics to catch illness early.
💤 The Anesthetist: Patiently monitoring vitals to keep your pets perfectly safe during surgery.
❤️ The Patient Advocate: Being the voice for those who cannot speak, reading the tiniest subtle shifts in comfort or pain.
They comfort nervous patients, stay late during emergencies, and celebrate every milestone in recovery or treatment right alongside you. We truly couldn’t do what we do without their brilliance and grit.

After 53 incredible years of caring for our community's cherished pets, the amazing Dr. Berdan is officially retired!🐾
It is hard to put into words what Dr. Berdan means to our clinic, our clients, and the generations of animals he has treated with such profound kindness, wisdom, and devotion. For 53 years Dr. B has been the heart and soul of our veterinary medicine community, helping countless four-legged family members live happier, healthier lives.
While we will deeply miss his presence on Fridays, his kindness towards everyone he encounters, and his unmatched veterinary expertise, we are overjoyed to celebrate this next, well-deserved chapter of his life.

Not all heroes wear capes—some wear scrubs and carry patients around like babies!
Meet Cinnamon. She came in for a procedure yesterday and was feeling a little too nervous to settle down in her kennel for pre operative medication. Enter our superstar vet tech, Heidi! Realizing Cinnamon just needed a little extra security, Heidi picked her up and proceeded to walk around the clinic with her WHILE giving her IV meds. Cinnamon felt safe, and her procedure went beautifully!
Our team goes above and beyond the medical checklist every single day. Making sure our patients are physically comfortable and emotionally at ease is our favorite part of the job.

🐾 Ever wonder what happens when your fur baby walks through our back doors? We know how tough it is to watch your pet go into the treatment area. It is completely normal to feel a little anxious, but we want to let you in on a little secret: your animals are absolutely showered with love behind the scenes! From the second they leave your side, they become part of our family.
Even during routine treatments, like getting subcutaneous (SQ) fluids, there is always a dedicated team member(s) holding a paw, offering gentle chin scratches, and giving endless reassurance.
Whether they are here for a quick test, fluids, or surgery recovery, we treat your pets exactly how we treat our own—with infinite patience, gentle hands, and a whole lot of love. ❤️ We’ve got them covered, every single step of the way!

🐾Bittersweet news today at River Valley Vet!🐾
It is time to say a huge goodbye and good luck to our amazing intern, Hannah, as she heads back to Pullman to prepare for her third year of vet school. 🎓
From jumping into emergency surgeries to giving our patients the absolute best care and cuddles, Hannah has been an invaluable part of our team. Our staff and patients are going to miss her energy, dedication, and passion so much! 🩺❤️

🇺🇸🎆 Happy 4th of July from all of us at River Valley Veterinary Center! 🐾❤️
While we love celebrating Independence Day, we know fireworks can be incredibly stressful for our furry friends. Keep your pets safe and comfortable this holiday by following these simple tips:
🏡 Create a Safe Space: Keep pets indoors in a secure, quiet room with the curtains drawn and the TV or music playing to mask loud noises.
📍 Double-Check IDs: More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day. Make sure your pet's collar, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.
💊 Anxiety Relief: If your pet struggles with firework phobia, please make sure to give any calming chews or anxiety medications before the festivities begin.
🍖 Skip the Scraps: Keep picnic food—like bones, onions, and chocolate—away from curious pets.
⏰ Holiday Hours Reminder:
We will be Closed Saturday and Sunday and open again on Monday, July 6th at 8am. If your pet has a medical emergency while we are closed, please contact our after hours emergency line at (509) 779-6742 to reach our after-hours emergency answering service.

**Tiger has been adopted!! Thanks to everyone who shared our post or reached out about fostering. What a wonderful community we have!! Tiger has found his person and is happily ruling the roost as the only pet!❤️❤️**

Tiger has won our hearts, we’ve been trying so hard to find him a foster or adopter but sadly he is still here at our clinic as a boarder, but is not able to be here on Easter weekend. We’ve been trying our best to take care of him and give him lots of love, but it’s not the same as being in a home. Tiger is healthy, 100% house trained, loves to go for walks on leash, 11 years young, 13 pounds, and was the joy of his owner’s life. He thrives in a calm setting, likes adult and older kids who are gentle and kind, and would make such a wonderful companion for someone who needs a friend. Tiger also really likes men (which is sometimes not the case with small dogs.) He can be a little worried being around other animals he does not know, and he is trying his best to be brave while he waits for someone special to love him.

We are helping one of our beloved, long-time patients, Tiger, find a new, loving home. Due to changes in their owner's health, this 11-year-old Min-Pin Mix is looking for a gentle spot to land.
Tiger is a sweet, friendly, cuddly boy who loves car rides, walks with his people and snuggling up to those he loves.
Tiger is up to date on vaccinations, perfectly house trained, neutered, and healthy! He is good with little dogs that respect his boundaries but not a fan of bigger dogs at all.
Tiger prefers a quieter home, and would love to spend his golden years with someone that would love to have an easy, loving, special boy in their life!
