An update regarding our Scaredy Cat School graduates:
Mother's Day was also Graduation Day and Adoption Day for our much loved SCS students. Chloe, Finley and Bolt.
During this adoption/moving transition, we had the guidance from Anthea, a remarkable animal communicator located in the UK who helped Bolt through this. The experience working with her was eyeopening and fascinating. We are so thankful to her for helping us with Bolt.
Our cat catching team, Nancy and Donna, had the stressful job of getting our students into their carriers the morning of their adoption. Gabapentin wasn't used after all, and thanks to their experience in cat handling and their planning, both Chloe and Bolt were encouraged into their cubbies and then they were put into their carriers while they were in their cubbies. It was without trauma for all. Finley is so brave and confident she remained lounging in her cat tree until it was time for the car ride home!. None of them made a peep. They were well behaved and didn't protest. I do believe the experience of graduation was so awe inspiring it took their breath away. (LOL) Finally Finley was set into her carrier and all their toys, towers, beds, wands, catnip kickers, and blankies were packed in the car and after many hugs and fare thee wells, they were off down the road starting their new life as brave, good graduates. They graduated!! They were adopted!
These 3 kitties have been with us for 1 year and 4 months. In those months I believe it was we, their teachers, who learned more! Bolt had become OUR teacher.
We take full responsibility for the success of each of our kitties in SCS. Some are fast learners, some are normal and learn as we expect and then are some who are stubborn, but never did we have a cat like Bolt.
Bolt taught us to be prepared, to work out of love only and expect 0 results, to not take things personally, to accept things we don't quite understand, and to always trust your gut, and never settle for less. Thank you Bolt. (or Thank you Mr. Bolt, as we were told is what he preferred to be called by our communicator.)
After they left, I stood in their classroom. It felt more than empty. Those 3 kitties had such an effect on each of us who worked with them. Everyone cried saying goodbye during the week. But everyone was thrilled that they would always be living together as we had always wanted.
We feel blessed for their new family reaching out to adopt them and give them all the love and time and patience needed to settle in calmly.
I've been getting updates regarding them, and it is truly wonderful news. They are doing very well so far. And they are already so very well loved by the family!
