RTN's Summer Herding Symposium 2026 - July 6 - 10th
Note: French Course trial on Wednesday July 1st, AHBA BTD/JBD July 2nd, RLF July 3, HRD July 4th and Invitational RTN HGH Exhibition and judges education July 5th. At Rancho Terra Norté we believe in creating a community of learning and this year’s Summer Symposium is designed to bring together herding enthusiasts of all levels in one place for
a week-long emersion of all disciplines of herding (AKC A, B, and C courses, ASCA, USBC, AHBA, test and trial levels). There are sessions for those who are just starting to learn about herding & tending taught by wonderful instructors who pride themselves in developing sound foundations on their students and establishing safe working habits. For those who understand the basics—there are fundamental building and intro to trial course sessions. This year we have added extra days to work with ducks/geese along with the Intro classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Mechanics & trial strategy sessions are designed for those dog & handler teams that are working on that competitive edge. Since livestock is an essential component to any herding program—we are offering sessions on herd health & management, appropriate stock selection practices, sheep psychology and fence construction. In addition to sessions relating to working stock—we are also offering Pet Health classes on Conditioning for the Canine Athlete including Chiropractic, Acupuncture and the use of Chinese Herbs, and First Aid for the Sport Dog. Your dog is a valuable team member - these sessions are designed to help keep him on top of his game. Can't attend in person - we offer our classroom sessions via Zoom. Looking for another reason to attend RTN’s Summer Symposium? How about spending a week at the foot of the Rocky Mountains during the best part of the summer season? Here on the high plains—we enjoy sunny breezy days that cool off in the evenings.
