We enjoyed an afternoon sharing the wonderful world of horses with a local Girl Scout Troop!

Participants got to tour the farm, meet the horses, learn all about horse care and the science of horses— and even learned to ride.

Unpopular truth… every month, someone asks me:

“Do you offer boarding?”

And every month, the answer is no.

Not because I don’t know how. Not because I wasn’t good at it. And not because I didn’t absolutely love it.

For nearly 15 years, I managed boarding facilities, and I loved it. I loved the people, the community, and most of all, the horses.

And that’s exactly why I stopped.

Because when you genuinely love horses, you start noticing things.

You notice the horse with the beautiful social media posts and the dirty stall.

The horse with the blue ribbons and no turnout.

The horse whose owner says they would do “anything” for them, except show up consistently for the ordinary things that matter most.

You start questioning what love really means.
Because love isn’t the championship photo.

Love isn’t the custom saddle pad.
Love isn’t the caption.

Love is clean water.
Love is movement.
Love is a clean stall.
Love is forage.
Love is consistency.

Love is doing the boring things every single day, whether anyone sees them or not.

I am a happier horsewoman because I don’t board. And I’ve got to be happy— because, quite frankly, I’ve got a lot to do.

Today, every horse on this farm is my responsibility. Their care, their exercise, their environment, their training, their wellbeing.

I don’t spend my days frustrated that someone else didn’t clean a stall, scrub a bucket, fill a hay net, or get a horse out.

Because I know it was done.

I know the horses here receive kindness, exercise, structure, and a clean environment every day.

And that peace is worth more than any boarding income ever was.

Instead? We offer daily training, daily exercise, and a level of care that I refuse to compromise on.

The horses deserve nothing less.

“Did it just snow inside in May?”
….kinda 🙃

At a training facility like ours, footing maintenance is part of the horses’ wellness program. Just like proper nutrition, veterinary care, turnout, and conditioning, maintaining safe footing is an investment in the long-term soundness and comfort of the horses that train here.

One of the ways many professional facilities maintain consistent, safe arena footing is through the use of magnesium chloride flakes — commonly called “Mag Flake.”

Mag Flake helps arena footing retain proper moisture, which keeps the footing more consistent, cushioned, and dust-free. Without proper moisture, footing can become dry, deep, slippery, hard-packed, or inconsistent from stride to stride — all things that place unnecessary strain on horses’ joints, tendons, ligaments, and respiratory systems.

Well-maintained footing helps:
• Reduce concussion on joints
• Reduce soft tissue strain and fatigue
• Improve traction and stability
• Minimize airborne dust and respiratory irritation
• Help horses move more confidently and correctly

It also improves the quality of training itself. Horses can relax and move more freely when they trust the surface underneath them.

Arena maintenance may not be the glamorous side of horsemanship — but it is one of the most important investments we make in the health, comfort, and longevity of the horses in our care. ❤️

📣 Listen— there are a few things we don’t play about around here.

1) 🐴 Horses
2) 💪🏻 Raising strong, supported, hardworking kids
3) ❌ Teaching riders to be brave enough to fail
4) 🏋🏼 Equitation
5) 🍦 Ice cream

But do we fold all five into a friendly competition amongst each other? 🏆

✨Of course we do 💁🏼‍♀️

This month, 20 riders braved the Who Can Maintain The Two-Point-the-Longest competition— and two riders came out on top!

Congratulations to our Champion, 🥇Abby, and our Reserve Champion, 🥈Lilly on earning the top spots by being able to complete more than 15-minutes straight! These champs will be leveraging their pretend ice-cream-cone-holding-steady-reins-hands for REAL ice cream at Hershey’s Ice Cream’n More in Lagrange. Winners receiving a $25 and $10 gift card to our favorite local ice cream shop!

As the matriarch of the farm, I get to witness a lot of incredible mamas.

I see the mamas….
💖juggling schedules to get their kids’ to all of their activities
💖working extra hours to fund their kid’s dreams
💖squeezing in their own riding lessons in the late evenings when their cup has run dry
💖taking an interest in a hobby that is out of their comfort zone

I also see them…
✨spending time in the barn and refilling their cup
✨in pursuit of their own physical and mental wellness and leading by example
✨acknowledging and encouraging kids beyond their own
✨embracing the ageless sisterhood of being a barn girl

And I see the unofficial mamas..
💛The ones who may or may not have their own children, but choose to see our animals as kids of their own.
💙They cuddle our babies and teach them kindness
💚They notice a low water bucket and refill it without hesitation

Cheers to the ladies that are the heartbeat of this farm. You are the Eye of the Tiger 🐯

Happy Mother’s Day, sisters!

On Sunday we had an eager group of horsewomen out to learn all about Horse Wellness; Proper Care, Identifying Common Ailments & Treatments.

In the clinic, participants got hands-on with the “why”behind everything we do here.

Because the truth is—our riders have been part of the horses’ wellness plan since their first lesson… now they just understand it.

🩺 What “normal” looks like (and when it’s not)
🧼 Daily care that actually keeps them safe
👀 How to spot small issues before they become big ones
❤️‍🩹 Treating common health problems

Because great horsemen don’t just sit up there and look pretty—they are the horse’s best friend and advocate; in and out of the saddle.

There’s this quiet myth that horses are something you “grow out of.”

We don’t buy that for a second.

Because the magic? It hits just as hard—maybe harder—when you find it as an adult.

It’s in the small moments…
✨ The wiggle of happy ears when the horse is slurping fresh water from newly-hung, clean bucket
✨ The exhale when a horse chooses to trust you—and you get to melt into that bay shoulder for a quiet snuggle
✨ The split second where something that once felt impossible… just clicks—and suddenly it’s not even a second thought anymore

And watching that unfold never gets old.

Huge shoutout to Jenn, who has been absolutely bloomin’—like an orchid with the perfect number of ice cubes—in her horsemanship 🌸
Steady. Intentional. Thriving in all the right ways.

This is why we do it.

Because whether you’re 6 or 65 or anywhere in between …
There’s always something new to learn.
Something to feel.
Something to fall in love with all over again.

And honestly? Watching adults light up like this might be one of our favorite parts. 💛
