Wellington Humane Society Serving Sumner County The Wellington Humane Society believes in the value of humane attitudes towards all living creatures.

This page is open to posting lost and found pets, ads for rehoming, fostering or adoption of pets in Sumner County, as well as information regarding the Wellington Humane Society functions. Therefore, the Corporation is committed to being a no-kill organization that maintains a 90 percent save rate or higher. The Corporation will strive to reduce births of unwanted pets through spay/neutering and working with the community to educate the public and find homes for animals in need. The Corporation will assist law enforcement in eliminating cruelty and neglect to animals as well as uphold laws and ordinances pertaining to animal welfare.

🐶It's Pitty Month!🐶

October is Pitbull Awareness Month. Pitties and pit mixes have a slower adoption rate, so we are celebrating those we have at our shelter like Gizmo. He was originally found dumped in the country with his name on his collar and owner information scratched out. He found a sweet family who got him help until we were able to take him in. He's a big boy, around 89 pounds. He does well with adults and older children. He LOVES peanut butter crackers (thanks to shelter friend Sly), and he enjoys his toys as well!

Stop in this week to meet Gizmo! He is one of our pit mixes with a discounted adoption fee! Now until October 31st, his fee is only $50! Each pet has age-appropriate vaccinations, has been treated for fleas & ticks, is fixed, microchipped, and tested for heartworms.

🐾❤️ Our Shelter Pet of the Week is McLovin! ❤️🐾

And a lover he is! McLovin is the full package: tall, handsome, sweet, and sporting a goofy personality that will steal your heart! October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating our pitties with an adoption special! Pit bulls and pit bull mixes make up a large portion of the pets currently in our shelter (and many others), and sadly, they often face longer waits to find their forever homes.
We absolutely adore this boy, and knowing what he’s already been through at just one year old makes us want to see him find his happily ever after even more.

McLovin was unwanted, dumped, and left at a pound. 😢 But just when things looked uncertain, a kind person stepped up and paid for his neuter surgery to help give him a better chance at adoption. The pound then kept him safe until we had a kennel available. 🥰

Now McLovin is here with us, winning hearts with his sweet demeanor and silly, puppy-like personality! ❤ He’s really just a big puppy waiting for someone to see what we see in him: an amazing dog with so much love to give. McLovin deserves more than being passed over because of how he looks. He deserves a family who will give him a chance, love him for who he is, and let him show them just how wonderful he can be!

🐶Could McLovin be your match? Come meet this handsome boy and help us celebrate our pitties this October! With our adoption special, it could be the perfect time to meet your new best friend.

We are open Wednesday through Friday, 3-7 pm, and Saturday, 10 am-2 pm. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before you come in to speed up the adoption process. We go in order of application received, so the sooner you get in your application, the better! The Pet of the Week has a special discount, and combined with our adoption special, makes his entire adoption fee waived during this week!

If you have questions or information about this pet, please contact the Wellington Animal Clinic at 620-326-3021 Monday - Friday (closed Wednesdays) 8am-5pm or Saturday 8-10am.

Please share with your friends and family. Be sure to check with neighbors who don’t have social media to ensure this isn’t their pet. We want this pet to get back to its loving home.
