What a wonderful afternoon celebrating our amazing team at our Staff Appreciation Party! ❤️
We made it work by seeing the same number of pets in a shorter day by working straight through lunch and our usual catch-up/charting time. It was definitely worth it!
The weather may have kept us inside, but that didn’t stop us from grilling out, playing lots of games, sharing plenty of laughs, and making some great memories with our work family. 🥰
We truly have an incredible group of people who work hard every day and give so much to our patients, clients, and each other. They absolutely deserve some fun, laughter, and time together!
So thankful for this team and the opportunity to celebrate them! 💜🐾

🐪 Not your average routine exam! While dental floats are a regular part of our work with horses, it’s not every day we get to peek inside the mouth of a camel.

Dr. Orosz was recently called out to evaluate an 18-year-old camel who was experiencing weight loss. A thorough oral exam revealed the culprit: a large dental hook (a sharp point of enamel overgrowth) that was making chewing painful and preventing proper food digestion.

Whether it’s a horse, a cow, or a camel, routine dental care makes a world of difference in keeping animals healthy, happy, and eating comfortably. We love the variety our patients bring us! 🌾 🐪 ✨

Clarification on Recent Horse Deaths at the Fair:
We want to address the rumors circulating about the unfortunate deaths of two horses at the fair last week, specifically regarding concerns of Strangles, a contagious bacterial infection.

As confirmed by the Senior Fairboard, these two deaths were not related to Strangles.

Spreading these rumors only heightens anxiety among horse owners and the community.

We work very closely with Dr. Spreng, the fair vet, to assure the health and safety of all animals at the fair.

There is always a risk of illness when a high population of animals is brought together, but vaccinating your animals is the best thing you can do for their health. While vaccines do not eliminate the risk, they provide superior protection.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in stopping these rumors.

🚨 Behind the Scenes in Large Animal Care! 🩺 🐄

When duty calls, our team is ready to jump into action wherever needed! Here, Dr. Walther is carefully preparing his surgical site in the barn to treat a Right Displaced Abomasum (RDA) with Torsion- a critical condition in cattle that requires swift surgical intervention.

An RDA torsion occurs when the cow’s stomach (the abomasum) fills with gas, shifts out of its normal position to the right side of the abdomen, and twists. This cuts off circulation and digestive flow, making fast diagnosis and surgical correction vital to saving the animals life.

Dr. Walther shaved, prepped, and sanitized the flank area to maintain a clean field before performing the procedure to untwist and secure the stomach back in its proper place.
