I came across this old post and wanted to share for the ones that may not know. I was so excited to share with others when I wrote it and it’s funny to re-read it now.
I’ve saved many puppies with this method since then & I hope it can help other new breeders that might see this post.

To my breeder friends-
So some of you may think I’ve lost my mind, but if it saves one other puppy, then it’s worth it.
I know we don’t talk about the bad often and like to pretend all is well because puppy families don’t have to see any of the behind the scenes…
But from time to time during the birthing process, we will see torn sacks, breeched pups, or puppies that just took too long to make it out. These puppies are just barley short of taking that first breath.
As breeders, we work to clear their airways, do cpr, suction, and all sorts of practices trying to get these babies to breathe.. sometimes it just doesn’t work or maybe just wasn’t meant to be.
Well I had a long time breeder share something that may sound somewhat bizarre with me a while ago, today I put this method to the test, and IT WORKED!!!
What I’m about to share would be the last ditch effort, but saved a tiny life today and I hope it can save others.
The puppy came out with a broken sack and was no longer breathing. Her tongue & gums were completely white, I tried all of the usual methods, and then I remembered this information shared with me. You will take a needle and prick below their nose where the line is and you’ll push and turn and although I was a skeptic, this puppy almost immediately gasped for air!!! I know this sounds insane, but if desperate, it will not hurt to put it to the test. I do not claim to know any of the science behind it, but I will say it again, it worked!
I of course continued all of the other things that go along with waking a puppy and I ended up poking her 3 times. I have officially added needles to the birthing bags and will never go without at least trying this during these situations again.
I know I sound insane, but the puppy would say otherwise as she’s nursing her mama now! It is seriously one of the most incredible things I’ve ever witnessed.

Correcting this as I’ve gained information- it is called the “Jen Chung method” there are links on google to better understand how this works. Hope this helps others ♥️♥️
