Buyers BEWARE for scammers!!!!
Here’s a quick update on what to look for before putting a deposit down on a puppy! Scamming happens all the time in various different ways.
To avoid getting scammed when buying a puppy, never pay with untraceable methods like wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.
You can request a live video chat with the puppy, verify the seller’s name and location, and arrange to meet the dog in person before handing over any money.
Red Flags to Watch For:
🐾Unrealistically low prices compared to the breed average.
🐾Poor grammar and spelling in the breeder's emails.
🐾Refusal of in-person visits or local pick-up.
🐾Sudden extra fees for shipping, crates, or "pet insurance" after the initial deposit.
🐾Stolen photos that appear on multiple websites.
🐾Steps to Verify the Breeder
🐾Reverse image search the puppy photos online to see if they belong to another website.
🐾Ask for unique photos of the puppy holding a handwritten note with your name on it.
🐾Google the breeder's name, email address, and phone number for previous fraud reports.
🐾Call the listed veterinarian associated with the breeder to confirm their legitimacy.
🐾Verify health records by contacting the certifying body directly instead of trusting provided paperwork.
🐾Secure Payment Practice
🐾Never wire money via Western Union or MoneyGram.
🐾Avoid paying in full before you have the puppy in your possession.
Please just make sure you talk extensively with your breeder and make sure they are consistent and go with your gut! Picture for cuteness!
