Some hand made foal extensions for an 8 week old foal with laxed tendons. Normally they improve on their own, but sometimes we need to give them a helping hand.

Got some very unfortunate news yesterday. It appears Butch Snow may not be able to continue on as a farrier after his health issue. Our hearts and prayers go out to him and his family. It's always a sad day when one of own especially a local farrier is forced into retirement before they want to.

Got an update on the pony in the clogs, went from not wanting to move, to cruising around alot more comfortable. Night and day difference for this old man. This is why I do this job. Helping horses feel better.

It's not everyday I get to do clogs, this older pony is showing signs of laminitis, and has a long history of founder. He barely shuffled his way to the spot we were working on him, but after a few steps with the clogs on he eagerly walked to his hay.

Many of my clients have heard me grumble and dismiss online cultest theories when I'm asked about them. However it's becoming more and more concerning how these groups are aggressively and loudly dismissing truth and actual proven science, in an effort to stand out as something different and new aged. They'll post comparison photos and radiographs, often times easily not the same horse. They redefine terms to fit their ideology. Claiming the coffin bone doesn't rotate, its "hoof capsule divergence". Very elegant way of saying they dont understand biomechanics. They paint DVMs and farriers as uneducated or down right sadistic, destroying horses feet to make money. Be careful, and mindful there's a lot of "anti traditional" hoof care opinions out there. At the end of the day, a radiograph, knowledgeable Vet and farrier team, shoes and pads will always achieve more than these cracked pot ideals. If anyone has questions, concerns, or worries ask your farrier, or vet.
