Bloodwork: A Broad View of Internal Health
Routine bloodwork evaluates:

Who Is at Higher Risk
According to veterinary public health experts, the greatest risk for pet‑associated zoonoses is in people with a compromised or incompletely developed immune system
This includes:
Young children under 5 years old
Older adults aged 65 or older
Pregnant women
Immunocompromised individuals

These groups are more likely to develop illness if exposed to zoonotic pathogens because their immune systems are less able to fight infection.

It begins with plaque buildup on the teeth, which hardens into tartar and irritates the gums. If untreated, infection can spread under the gumline, damage bone and ligaments, and even enter the bloodstream, affecting the heart, kidneys, and liver

Signs to Watch For
Many pets show no early symptoms, but possible indicators include
Bad breath
Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
Discolored teeth
Drooping food or eating on one side
Excessive drooling or pawing at the mouth
Loose or missing teeth

🍁 Is your home slowly turning into a winter wonderland... of pet fur? 🐕🐈

You aren't imagining it! As the weather cools down, our pets drop their lightweight summer coats to make room for that thick, cozy winter insulation. This is called "blowing coat," and it can feel overwhelming!

Before you buy stock in lint rollers, try these 4 Vet-Approved Tips to control the seasonal fuzz:
1️⃣ Brush daily, not weekly: Up your brushing routine to a daily habit. For double-coated breeds, gently part the fur to ensure you are reaching the dense undercoat where loose hairs trap easily.
2️⃣ Bath time is hair-release time: A bath with a gentle, pet-safe moisturizing shampoo helps loosen up dead hair so it washes down the drain instead of sticking to your couch! (Just make sure they are 100% dry before applying any topical pest preventatives).
3️⃣ Check the bowl: A strong coat starts from the inside. High-quality diets rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids protect the skin barrier and minimize excessive hair breakage.
4️⃣ Keep them hydrated: Dry indoor fall air can lead to dry skin, which actually triggers more shedding. Make sure clean water is always available!

⚠️ When is it too much? Seasonal shedding should be uniform. If you notice bald patches, symmetry-free thinning, red skin, or constant scratching, it’s time to schedule a checkup to rule out allergies or skin infections.
