🚨 COMING SOON: Eleanor

Miss Eleanor is a 1-year-old Walker Hound with a nose that takes her on adventures and a heart that just wants to hear she’s a good girl. While some dogs will do anything for a snack, Ellie is powered almost entirely by compliments, encouragement, and being told she’s pretty.

This goofy, charming hound has done great with other dogs, loves kids, and has enough personality to keep life interesting. Whether she’s following an exciting scent trail or showing off her signature hound charm, Eleanor is always ready to make new friends.

Ellie is scheduled to be spayed next week and could head home as early as Thursday, June 11! In the meantime, she’s accepting visitors from potential adopters who’d like to meet her before adoption day arrives.

Tails of Tomorrow is happening THIS SATURDAY, and we still have a few seats left.

Join us on June 6th from 12:00–1:30 PM at Faith Community Church for a special educational event introducing Sarge’s Capital Campaign and our vision for the future of rescue in our community. This is an informational, educational session, not a fundraising event, designed to share who we are, where we’re going, and how we’ve already raised $1 million toward purchasing our building, along with our next goal of $2.2 million for critical renovations that will expand care for pets in need.

🤠🥩 Everything is bigger in Texas… Roadhouse.

Meet Texas Roadhouse, a 6-year-old German Shepherd who’s living up to his name. Weighing in at over 100 pounds, he’s built more like a 23-ounce Porterhouse than a Filet Mignon, but he’s officially started his weight-loss journey and is working hard to become the lean, healthy version of himself.

This handsome guy is smart, knows his basic manners, and is already house-trained. He’s the kind of dog who carries himself with confidence and charm, and let’s be honest, that face doesn’t hurt either.

Texas Roadhouse is still new to the Sarge’s crew, so we’re learning more about him every day. We don’t yet know how he feels about other dogs, what his preferred play style is, what he’d order at Starbucks, or where he stands on the hot dog sandwich debate. We’ll find out those answers in the days to come. What we do know is that he’s a good boy with a lot of potential and a personality that’s already winning us over.

Steve Buscemi and Steve Buscemi’s Mom are officially accepting applications for their next chapter.

Steve Buscemi’s Mom has done her time in the motherhood trenches and is now recently spayed, which means her baby-making days are behind her. This sweet girl is discovering who she is outside of being “Mom” and every day she gets a little more confident, a little more affectionate, and a little more convinced that she deserves to be the center of someone’s world. We happen to agree.

Meanwhile, baby Steve Buscemi is operating with the confidence of a cat who believes he has life completely figured out. Unfortunately, his coordination has not yet received that memo. He’s full of kitten mischief, big plans, questionable decisions, and the occasional accidental somersault when his fine motor skills can’t quite keep up with his ambitions.

One is ready to reclaim her youth and soak up all the attention she missed out on. The other is busy creating chaos at a level only a kitten can achieve. Both are waiting at Sarge’s and would love to meet you.

The longer the body, the bigger the personality. ✨

Meet Virginia Slim, a 2-year-old lowrider queen with a body built for maximum charm and minimum ground clearance.

Virginia starts out a little shy, but that’s just her making sure you’re worth the tea. Once she warms up, she’s equal parts Southern sweetheart and beach vacation chaos. Think monogrammed tote bag meets gas station sunglasses. Charleston brunch meets Myrtle Beach spring break. She enjoys positive affirmations, assumes every meal was prepared specifically for her, and would absolutely slow down traffic if she thought someone might compliment her.

This extra-long lady walks well on a leash, does great with other dogs, and is happiest when she has a canine companion around. In fact, another dog in the home is a must. Having a best friend helps Virginia feel confident enough to let her full personality shine.

If your ideal dog is polite enough to meet your mother but chaotic enough to investigate every suspicious leaf, squirrel, and neighborhood rumor, Virginia Slim may be your girl. Come meet the dog that’s 90% body, 10% legs, and 100% committed to being involved in everybody’s business.

We’re halfway through 2026, and thanks to our incredible community, it’s already been a year full of second chances, lifesaving care, and happy endings. ❤️🐾

So far this year, 131 pets have found loving homes, and 134 pets have been welcomed in since the beginning of the year. Our foster families have provided more than 800 nights of care, comfort, and healing, giving pets the support they need to thrive.

Beyond our shelter walls, Sarge’s Community Pet Pantry has distributed over 8,000 pounds of pet food and thousands of cans of wet food to help keep pets fed and families together. Our free vaccine and microchip clinic served 188 pets, helping protect and reunite beloved companions with the people who love them.

None of this happens without the people who stand beside us. Our volunteers have already dedicated more than 1,500 hours this year, helping with everything from animal care and pet food distribution to events, maintenance, and community outreach.

We’ve also celebrated some big milestones, including reaching our Shelter Slumber Pawty fundraising goal and raising funds for important play yard improvements in just 48 hours. And through our Tails of Tomorrow Capital Campaign, we’re working toward an even brighter future with plans for critical facility renovations that will expand our impact for years to come.

Every adoption, donation, volunteer shift, foster placement, and share on social media helps make this work possible. We can’t wait to see what the second half of 2026 has in store.

Still waiting for your sign to adopt a kitten? Here it is.

Allspice is convinced he knows something the rest of us don’t. Whether he’s predicting the future or simply judging your life choices from across the room remains unclear.

Cinnamon is a firm believer in the “fake it ‘til you make it” philosophy. Whether that confidence is actually backed by a solid plan is another question entirely, but he’s doing his best.

Goofy Goober is the emotional support friend nobody asked for but everyone needs. He can diffuse any tense situation simply by existing and doing something ridiculously cute.

Steve Buscemi wakes up every morning and chooses chaos, parkour, and questionable decision-making. We are convinced he was either a professional wrestler or a stuntman in a past life.

Koozie is approximately 20% attitude and 80% bobblehead. She’s tiny, mighty, and looks like a caricature come to life. And don’t let her size fool you, she has enough confidence for a kitten twice her size.

These kittens are scheduled for their spay/neuter appointments and are available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, meaning they can start settling into their new homes while they finish up their veterinary care.

And a reminder: if you don’t already have a cat at home, kittens often do best with a feline friend. They help teach each other manners, burn off energy, and keep one another entertained. As always, the second adoption fee is waived.

At 10 weeks old, Hurricane is a mixed breed puppy whose breed makeup remains a mystery. Your guess is as good as ours. What we do know is that he’s goofy, clumsy, and full of puppy charm.

This little whirlwind loves being part of the action and has spent time in foster with dogs, cats, and children. He plays hard, loves harder, and approaches life with the confidence of a puppy who has absolutely no reason to be this confident.
