💔🐾 With a very heavy heart, I have something I need to share with all of you…
After months of thinking, praying, crying, and asking myself if I was truly ready, I have made one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.
I am retiring from breeding.
There are some decisions in life that you know are the right ones, even when your heart is screaming that you’re not ready to let go. This is one of those decisions. ❤️
For so many years, my life has revolved around these little long-eared, short-legged, big-hearted babies. They weren’t just dogs. They were my babies. They were part of my everyday life, my sleepless nights, my happy moments, my worries, my celebrations, and so many memories that I will carry with me forever.
I’ve watched tiny puppies take their first breaths.
I’ve held them through the night.
I’ve worried over them, prayed over them, laughed at their crazy little personalities, and cried when it was time to send them home.
And then I watched those puppies grow up in families who loved them just as much as I did.
That has been the most beautiful part of this journey. ❤️
But every chapter has a beginning, and eventually, every chapter has an ending.
And now it’s time for me to close this one.
As part of my retirement, some of my beloved adult dogs will be looking for new forever homes. And I want everyone to understand something very important:
This is not because I don’t love them. It is because I love them enough to make the difficult decision to give them the opportunity for the next chapter of their lives.
This will probably be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
So I will not be sending them just anywhere.
I will be looking for the right families, the right homes, and the right fit. These dogs deserve someone who will look at them and see what I see — not a retired breeding dog, but a beloved companion who still has so much love to give.
There will be tears.
There will probably be moments when I question whether I can really do this.
And there will definitely be dogs that take a piece of my heart with them when they leave. 💔
But I have to remind myself that loving them doesn’t mean I have to keep them all forever.
Sometimes loving them means making the hardest choice for them.
To everyone who has supported Blue Ridge Doxies over the years — whether you brought one of my babies home, followed our journey, shared a post, recommended me to someone, checked on us, or simply enjoyed seeing those little dachshund faces on your feed…

You have been part of something incredibly special to me.
I may be retiring from breeding, but I will never retire from loving dachshunds. They will always have a piece of my heart. 🐾❤️
So this isn’t really goodbye.
It’s the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Over the coming days/weeks, I will begin making individual posts for the dogs who will be available. Please, feel free to share.
Please be patient with me through this process. This is emotional for me, and these dogs mean more to me than I could ever put into a Facebook post.
