Your cat's whiskers are crying for help 🐱❗

Have you heard of whisker fatigue? Cats can easily get overstimulated when their sensitive whiskers constantly touch their food and water bowls.

If your cat:
🐈Hesitates or avoids eating
🐈Pushes food out of the bowl, or eats off their paw
🐈Is aggressive or agitated when eating
🐈Only eats from the center of the bowl and avoids touching the sides

They might have whisker fatigue.

Switch to shallow, wide bowls that won't bother whiskers. Cats like to be clean and may get stressed eating or drinking from dirty dishes, so be sure to wash bowls daily.

Hot weather is here, do you know how to keep your pets safe? ☀️

🚗Do NOT leave pets in cars. On a 75 degree day your car can reach 100 degrees in just 10 minutes. Cracking the windows is not enough to keep your car at a safe temperature. Don't risk it, even for a quick errand. Leave your dog at home during hot weather.

🐕Check sidewalk temperatures before going on a walk. On a 77 degree day pavement temps can reach 125 degrees. If you can't hold your hand on the sidewalk for 15 seconds then it's too hot for a walk. When on walks keep to grassy and shaded areas to stay comfortable.

💧Stay hydrated. Make sure pets always have access to fresh, clean water.

❗Know the signs of heat stroke: excessive panting, excessive drooling, rapid heart rate, bright red gums, lethargy

🏥Know what to do if your dog shows signs of heat stroke: pour cool (not cold) water over your dog, keep in the shade or indoors, keep continuous airflow using fans, go to your vet immediately and phone them on the way so they're ready for you.

🐶Pay special attention to dogs that don't do well in the heat. Seniors, large breeds, long-coated breeds, and short-muzzled breeds need extra help to stay comfortable in hot weather.

🌳Limit time outdoors on hot days. Go for walks in the morning and evening when it's cooler. During the heat of the day focus on indoor activities like puzzle toys and learning new tricks.

Do you know the 5 rules of dog walking?

1️⃣Pick up your mess: Make sure to carry p**p bags whenever you go out with your dog, and dispose of their waste properly.

2️⃣Ask before saying hello: Just because your dog is friendly doesn't mean other dogs are. Ask before approaching and respect if the other dog doesn't want to socialize.

3️⃣Pay attention to leash laws: Some places only allow leashed pets, know the rules so you can avoid fines.

4️⃣Be mindful of your dog: They may try to eat things they shouldn't or go potty in your neighbor's flower bed. Avoid vet bills from eating questionable sidewalk snacks, and awkwardness with your neighbors.

5️⃣Be careful with retractable leashes: While seemingly convenient, retractable leashes aren't practical for daily walks. Make sure to have them in the locked position when approaching people or dogs, or when going inside to avoid tangles and trip-ups.
