Magic hasn’t been to church for 9 weeks due to my travel, my health, her dealing with a month long stint of kennel cough, and dog shows. She’s had a few outings but with being out of commission for just over a month she absolutely killed it this morning! Settled great, didn’t get too excited about people coming by or almost stepping on her tail, and double downed almost the entire sermon (only woke up to alert). We’re out at lunch sitting in a funky high top but she is doing great! This girls task work is coming along so nicely since she was stuck at home we worked a lot on tasks once she was feeling pretty good while we waited for the last of the cough to clear up 🥰

A busy week with all these kiddos! We even made sure to help Percy and his Mom tackle the grocery store today on top of a few vet visits, confo classes, and more. So many outings this week and I’m loving all of it! Solo outings, outings with other dogs/handlers, and making memories and progress at the same time 🥰💜🐾

A vulnerable post from the human behind the account:
Somedays it is really hard to keep pushing forward. Sometimes seeing others blessed over and over and over in ways that even once would be life changing for us and LFD make me sad, frustrated, and just mad. How can we do so much good and grow that good and then we’re in moments where I feel like I’ve been left behind or forgotten…. I am so happy for those blessings in those peoples lives and I know God is good and that he provides! Today is not an easy day to see that because the devil is trying his best this week! So let me shout out some good things for my heart and minds sake:
_today my reactive dog client not only was able to quickly redirect and pull their dog back under threshold when we escalated dog pressure but by the end of their lesson their pup was redirected in motion and chose not to react or fixate and just kept moving on which is huge for her! 💜
_her mom actually handled her quite a bit of the lesson and literally perfectly timed several leave its and redirections and I’m so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone! 💜
_her parents gave us a super sweet and thoughtful human/dog Halloween goodies which literally was so incredibly sweet! 💜
_my disabled handler was able to walk his dog into class with ease comparatively and now has better control so he and his dog can continue to grow through training! 💜
_Sesame helped me, our coworker, and a client today. 💜
_Yesterday Cinder and I conquered Costco and other than being a little pumped from being off for some time she did great even on just a slip leash! She tasked through out the trip and I’m stoked to keep the momentum. 💜
_After Cinder’s Costco run I took Faye on her first on the floor vested outing to HomeGoods and she did fantastic! She focused, settled, and quickly after ~2 minutes was able to contain the silly crazy puppy moments well. She even settled in a double down on her own! 💜
_We had an incredible weekend at the United Kennel Club® show where Sesame brought home: A-BISS, A-BIS, & A-RBIS as well as 75 points of her 100 needed for her U-CH along with all 3 competition wins!! 💜
_Pudge got 5 more points to her U-CH title 💜

I’m still struggling, still frustrated, and want to never get out of this bed but I will because God isn’t done and the devil only does this when there are bigger and better blessings coming! So I will show up and continue to prepare for rain and many blessings for us AND the people/dogs that we serve!! 💜💜🐾

4-5 years ago after seeing me comment on a post on a show lead facebook group I got a pointed message: “Are you planning to show Harley?” To which I said no, I was interested in learning more about conformation and maybe taking some handling classes (potentially with Sesame) to see if it is something I might want to think about in the future. I was told that it was “Stupid! And a waste of time and money.” As you can imagine that little flame of wanting to learn was quashed. Then, God sent Robbie and Tibur into my life! A little Swissy to help train that I knew she planned to show. I asked if I could take him to handling classes when Charlotte Dog Training Club started offering them and I started learning from those wonderful women! Then I got to learn some more things from Tibs handlers as well as from Robbie!! That once quashed flame started to be rekindled and grew continuously! I wanted to get in the ring with a dog of my own and I am extremely grateful to have gotten to add Pudge to our program with mentorship from some wonderful lab people I respect! We are still very early in her show journey AND I’ve enjoyed it so much that after our first ukc show a few weeks ago I decided I would finally after years of hearing her breeders words in my head I decided it was time to do exactly what I wanted to do from the beginning….. learn about a new sport and see if it was something I would enjoy with my dog! And let me tell you my anxiety about it was worse than the first time I took Pudge in the ring. Sesame however did amazing. The judge and stewards couldn’t believe this was her first time ever in a ring. And all the little things we’ve done for fun over the years came together…. Which brings us to🥁🥁🥁

Cinder has been working with her known skills for Alexie in between raising two beautiful litters of puppies (BECAUSE WE DIDN’T KNOW SHE WOULD BE STAYING PERMANENTLY WHEN I TOOK HER FOR “Spring training” 😂🤣) but is healing up from her spay and is ready for a tune up and to truly be customized to Alexie’s needs. So get ready for more baked bean content especially some with her and her children 🤣😂🥰💜🐾

Our little Jelly Beans are growing up too fast!!! We took full advantage of the beautiful weather today and let the pups have some play groups time. We worked on settling together after and even some recall work. Everyone had a blast! I LOVE getting to spend time with them outside when the weather is cooler! Hope this helps your week start out a little better 🥰💜🐾

After a 6 year fight with epilepsy and having more time than we expected we said goodbye to baby Rooka (Luka) today. Such a sweet and beautiful soul. I’m so thankful we sent him straight to Harley who was his surrogate dog mommy his whole life. 💜🐾

Luka brought so much joy into the most mundane moments of life just by giving a collie head tilt to me saying “hi! Good morning! Hi buddy!” on speaker phone. He brought Hannah’s parents so much joy and love and was always right on their heels! He adventured with them until his meds made him weak and then he kept his mom company until his daddy would return. Him joining our family signified the closing of a different chapter and allowed so many new ones to come! Harley and Luka were besties and it gives me great peace knowing he is running free tonight with Harley in a strong body free of epilepsy and free of the damage the meds side effects made. We will miss you Luka! So much!! 💜🐾

There was no other place I would be than snuggling him in his final hours/moments. I walked in the door this evening and our eyes met and I knew he was ready. There is so much peace when you see they’re ready. Thank you Luka for waiting for us to get up here 🫂❤️‍🩹🐾

Today was my first full session with the yellow lab crew. They may look a little familiar… the 3 in the front are all related to Max! I’ll be spending a couple hours working with these girls several days a week working on health, strength, and so much more. Today we did a lot of impulse control work and for the young girls I really pushed them! I am so excited to see where we can help take them and what we can help their mom and them accomplish! You’ll be seeing a good amount of these faces around so be sure to keep an eye out 🥰💜🐾

Day of pick-up potential owner changed their mind- he reminded them of their old dog and they realized they weren’t ready for a new puppy.

Last weekend Pudge and I stepped back into the ring after taking a couple months off, her going through her first heat, and us letting showing take the backseat. We put in the reps, the prep, and we still have plenty of ways to go but she did so many good things! On top of showing we entered our very first specialty. It was a little intimidating seeing the program that we had 50+ dogs in breed for the all breed show those two days and 60+ in the specialty. Leading up to the show Pudge and I focused on clear free stacks, hand stacking for the judging, and standing still/focused. The first two days wiggle butt struggled a bit so we drilled it multiple sessions each evening and on our day off practiced leading into the specialty. Pudge blew me away! After our first evening of the specialty I was pumped to go into Sunday. Sunday am disaster struck and my belt wasn’t tight enough and my pants being a little too big having to grab them so they didn’t fall on our around threw me off completely. I walked to a quiet spot and sat and as I cried that I failed her little Pudge jumped right in. She actively interrupted and distracted me and responded without prompting. I cried more but happy tears that those couple months off of showing were 1000% worth it for her service work!! We calmed down & returned to finish watching our breed. Sunday evening after taking 2nd to the other class bitch all weekend Pudge finally shined her way through! When he asked me to move I was confused and when I realized what Mr Giuliani was doing tears welled in my eyes. Our little Pudge had done it! We celebrated with butt tuck zoomies and her trying to steal her ribbon as we continued to cheer on every other dog/human team competing. Thank you Judge Claudio de Giuliani for putting up our little chaos queen! 💜🐾

A lesson I teach anyone who asks about tips for conformation is… Congratulate every winner in your class, in winners, in breed, & beyond whether if your dog beats them or gets dumped because you may be the only person that does…. Thankfully I was so proud of Pudge that the poor sportsmanship didn’t dampen my joy! If you step into the ring one day…. Be the one!💜🐾
