Congratulations to the newest graduate of The Daily Dog! She has worked hard to learn how to communicate with her dog, how dogs learn and how to create clear pictures for Bolt. Great job Amy!! Now the work continues as you all will continue to create the consistent pictures that will help Bolt achieve so much! He is just absolutely the sweetest pup! 💕 🐾

It was so great seeing this past client Mochi and parents today for a loose leash lesson using new tools to help improve their communication. They all did great and will hopefully be enjoying leisurely walks moving foward!

Bolt and his mom did amazing work today! Folks, this didn’t just happen in one lesson. There are multiple parts to creating this mindset and series of manners.
1. Doorway manners. Dog doesn’t run out of an open door but needs to be invited.
2. Stopping at the top step and not running ahead. (Just look at him glance up at his mom and wait) 🥰
3. Settled mindset for both of those took environmental training. Repeating those items multiple times and then going back inside without ever going on a walk as well as simply hanging out on the porch with no other agenda.
4. Waiting to be invited down the stairs. So, so important to not be pulled down steps by a powerful dog!
5. Walking nicely on the leash and engaging with the owner, understanding leash pressure.

All 5 of these things were taught and practiced separately over the last 2 months to get him to this point. Is the work over? NO! But you can definitely see the result of the efforts in this video. Bolt is NOT a calm dog. He is s***k and fire and energy all rolled into a cute fur ball so this is HUGE! So proud of the work his family is investing into him! 🐾 ❤️

Practicing doorway manners at all the doors is important to create a consistent picture. Today Bolt learned a new door! We also practiced settling on the front porch, place at mealtime with the whole family and engage/disengage activities! Lots to continue building upon!

Congratulations to the newest Daily Dog graduate! Rocket and his parents completed a 6 lesson series today. Rocket is still very young (not yet 6 months) but has such a great start now. His parents have the tools and knowledge about how dogs learn to be successful moving foward with his training. Great job guys and happy training!

Today Rocket’s dad learned about magnet feeding and “find it” as tools to help Rocket outside. His neighbor was so kind to tolerate us using him for training! We let Rocket look for a couple seconds and then practiced magnet feeding to continue the nice loose leash past the house where the man was working. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Great job Rocket and Ben!

This sweet boy started learning doorway manners today. His mom learned how to break down the steps to help him be successful. He will need to continue seeing this picture at multiple doors to completely understand this skill. Way to go Bolt!

Bolt is learning down stay and made great progress in the lesson. His mom did a great job getting him to understand the word “down” over the last couple weeks so now we just start building his impulse control and showing him pictures of holding that down until we free him. We do this with lots of repetition and when he breaks we have to return him to the original spot and ask for a down again. We could actually see him thinking super hard to figure this out and most times he returned quickly to the correct position. Way to go Bolt!

Graduation day! Maddie and Kristin completed their 4 lessons today. Maddie has learned so much but more importantly her mom has learned about how to break things down, create pictures for Maddie and be consistent and fair with what she is asking Maddie to do. Now the real journey begins as she works to continue building Maddie’s impulse control and showing her with small snapshots how to deal with her big feelings. Great job you guys and I can’t wait to see your relationship blossom!

Today we worked some on state of mind. Maddie gets extremely excited outside. She can’t learn to walk nicely until she has a calm state of mind. We worked on doorway manners which leads to porch settling and then waiting as mom goes down the steps and she is released to join her. She then would pull ahead so mom worked on standing like a tree until Maddie relieved the pressure. In this video she did it very quickly when she reached the end of the leash she circled back to mom. Now and only now is when you start practicing loose leash walking. If your dog can’t do the l first 4 things with a calm state of mind then they will not be able to focus on you and learn anything else at that point. Be patient and go at your dogs pace! 👏🏻 Great job to mom and Maddie!
