Dutch Country Animal Rescue We are a 501c3 approved organization on a mission to rescue and find a safe haven for displaced or abused animals, with foster homes in NY, PA, NJ, MD, & TX.

Our vision is for all animals to be given the opportunity to live in a peaceful environment with a warm place to rest their head, proper medical care, a full belly, and to truly know the meaning of love. Our mission is to rescue abused or abandoned animals that otherwise would not have a chance. Most of our rescues come from puppy mills and high-kill shelters around the country. Our organization is run entirely by a network of volunteers, so all public funds received are used directly for the rescue and care of animals in need. We typically rescue those that need us most; mill dogs at risk of being destroyed and dogs on death row in kill shelters. We can always use your help! Anna came to DCAR after being rescued from a college dorm where she experienced severe confinement. Today, she’s living a life filled with love and even recently served as a beautiful flower girl at a wedding!

So many of the dogs who need us come from breeders who are releasing them from breeding programs. Others are surrendered by their owners or are sitting in shelters, waiting for someone to save them. But without a foster home where they can land, that chance may never come. Their futures could be at risk simply because there is nowhere for them to go.

YOU can be the reason a dog gets a tomorrow.

At DCAR, we know something truly special about these dogs. Most have never known what it means to be cherished, to sleep in a soft bed, to feel a gentle touch, or to be loved simply for being themselves.

Yet, once they feel safe, something beautiful happens. They begin to trust. They discover the joy of being a family dog. They show us that beneath the fear and uncertainty is a loving companion just waiting for a chance. And the gratitude they give in return? It will touch your heart in ways you never imagined.

PLEASE, consider becoming a DCAR foster. Don't assume someone else will step up. For a dog whose future is uncertain, you could be the someone they've been waiting for.

To provide our dogs with the safe, secure environment they need to thrive, DCAR fosters must have a secure, fully fenced-in yard, no small children in the household, and at least one other dog in the home to help our newcomers learn from a canine companion. These requirements help our dogs feel safe, build confidence, and adjust to life as beloved family pets.

The rescue pays for everything; you provide the home and change a life. Imagine knowing that because of you, a dog who might not have had a future is now sleeping safely, feeling loved, and finally getting the life they deserve.

That is the gift of fostering. And we promise, the love you receive in return is a gift, too.
