**Food can help keep pets and families together. Providing pet food prevents families in temporary financial hardship from having to surrender their pets.**

We have a new shed and are ready to help again! Please read all of the following information because we had to make changes on how people can get the free food for their pets. We are certain those who actually need the food for their pets will be willing to follow the new procedures. Thank you for understanding.

IMPORTANT: We have installed a door code on the shed. To open the door and get inside, you must have a code. Please email to get your code. We will need your name, address, and pet(s) names and ages. This process could take several days so please plan ahead. [email protected]

*He is initially skittish and scared. He needs time to feel safe in his new environment and then he is the greatest friend you can have.
*First to come in for cuddles in the morning when he knows you are awake.
*Loves to tuck himself under your chin while you stroke his belly.
*Lover of wands and anything round.
*Jerry will need to be adopted along with his brother Harry, or into a home with another young cat. He will thrive with a cat or kitten friend. He cannot be the only cat in the home.

FROM DUKE: "My foster humans call me Duke. I don’t know if that was ever my real name. The humans who tied my leash to a tree and walked away didn’t say it—and they didn’t look back. I don’t think they cared if anyone ever knew who I was.
But things are different now.
Now I am loved. I am happy. I am safe. My foster family tells me I am a good boy—and I believe them. Foster Mom says I’m doing great learning my commands like sit, stay, and no. I try really hard because it makes her smile.
I’m not the biggest fan of the crate, but my humans are very patient with me. They’re helping me learn that it’s a safe place, and I sleep in it with the door open. I’m housebroken, too, and I sleep all night without any accidents (that’s something they seem very proud of).
We’re working on leash and harness training so I can learn to walk nicely with my humans—rather than me walking them. I’m doing my very best.
Want to know my favorite things? I’m so glad you asked! I love wrestling with my foster dog brother, Riley, and I get along well with the rest of the pack. I love going to the dog park where I can run as fast as my legs will carry me and play tug with my friends. Foster Mom says my superpower is destroying a squeaky ball in just a few seconds—I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important.
Sometimes I get bored, but my humans always make sure I have chew toys to keep me busy. My favorite thing of all is laying on the deck steps, soaking up the warm sunshine, watching the world go by, and feeling safe.
My humans say I have a gentle mouth, and I take treats very nicely. I love meeting new people so much that sometimes my excitement makes me hop a little. I’m learning to keep all four paws on the ground, and I always try my best not to jump—I just get so happy to say hello.
I also heard that a wonderful human donated part of my adoption fee to help me find my furever home. Could it be you? I sure hope so."

**You can stop in anytime to meet Marsay & Lyonne to see if they are the ones for you! They are located in the kitty condo in the lobby at Avenue Veterinary Clinic in Waverly. We are working together with this wonderful vet to help save more lives. If they are the ones for you, please do apply. Once approved to adopt, a WPR volunteer will set up with you to meet so you can adopt and take them home! Avenue Veterinary Clinic , 1504 4th St SW, Waverly, IA 50677. A big thank you to the first graders at North Ridge Elementary in Waverly! They have been learning about animal adoption and completed some amazing reports to help a few pets in Iowa become adopted. They also partnered with their art teacher at North Ridge and the students created many cat toys and then donated them to Waverly Pet Rescue!

The toys are essential for our rescues' well-being, providing them exercise, to prevent destructive boredom and to relieve stress. We appreciate your love and generosity!
