To the world, we may look like a driver and a horse, a carriage and a job. But what the world doesn't see is the bond that lives between us.
They don't see the gentle words whispered into familiar ears, the reassuring touch on a beloved neck, or the quiet moments when that horse becomes more than a working partner. They become a friend, a comfort, and a piece of your heart.
They don't see the worry when something doesn't seem right, the pride in watching them thrive, or the love that grows through countless hours spent together. They don't understand that when you spend your days caring for an animal, learning their personality, earning their trust, and sharing a routine, the connection becomes something deeply personal.
You don't just hold the reins of a carriage. You carry a responsibility for a living soul that matters to you.
And the hardest part of this debate is watching strangers judge a relationship they have never taken the time to understand. They see the work, but they don't see the heart. They see the harness, but they don't see the hands that gently stroke a familiar face. They see a horse pulling a carriage, but they don't see the human who worries about that horse long after the day is done.
I wish people understood that loving a horse and working alongside a horse are not mutually exclusive. Love is shown through care, patience, respect, and responsibility.
These horses are not just part of our livelihood. For many of us, they are part of our lives, our daily routines, and our hearts.
You can judge the carriage, question the industry, and debate the work. But please don't assume you know what's in someone's heart when you've never stood beside their horse.
Because sometimes, the deepest friendships don't need words. They exist in a familiar nicker, a gentle nudge, a trusting glance, and the quiet comfort of simply being together.
And that bond? It's real, even if the world never takes the time to see it.
