Excellent public service announcement for this weekend! Please keep fur babies safe❤️
It’s that time of year again and Independence Day celebrations are happening everywhere! WVVS recommends keeping your animals safe and happy with a list of the following:
🇺🇸Create a safe and secure environment indoors for your pet. Loud noises and flashing bright lights often lead to fear and panic.
🎵Turn up the volume on the TV or Radio to down out the loud boom, bangs and crackles. Have your pet wear an anxiety aid, such as Thunder Jacket. Spray or diffuse calming pheromones.
🗝️ Be sure to check all windows and doors; a panicking animal can bust through screens, or push through unlatched doors.
🪪 Have your pet wear identification such as an ID tag or microchip information. Double check to make sure your contact information is up to date. More dogs go missing this time of year than any other holiday!
💊 Early Veterinary intervention such as prescription medication for severe cases of anxiety may be necessary. Be sure to reach out this week if you think medications may be needed for your pet.
👎🏼 Do not bring your pets to fireworks shows. Public events are very stressful on everyone, most definitely your pets.
🍔 Avoid human food at all costs! Common foods such as grapes, onions, raisins, garlic, alcohol, BBQ skewers, chocolate, or candies containing Xylitol can be fatal. Many foods may not be toxic, but can cause major GI upset, vomiting and diarrhea. (And who wants to deal with that?!)
🚮 Secure your trash. Dogs especially have a unique ability to find “unique” treasures that can cause blockages, choking or organ failure.
🇺🇸❤️💙 Let’s keep everyone safe and have a wonderful Independence Day Celebration.
Love,
Dr. Myszka and the team at WVVS
