We’re hoping to see one of these again soon…
Last year, our friend Dave captured this incredible shot of a Baltimore Oriole on the farm — one of the most striking (and elusive) birds in our area.
They’re not commonly seen here in this part of Wisconsin, which made the sighting even more special.
And their nests? Honestly, they’re architectural masterpieces. Orioles weave these long, hanging pouch nests that dangle from the ends of tree branches — designed to keep predators out and protect their young.
They’re also migratory, spending winters in Central and South America before making their way back north each spring. So if we’re lucky, they’ll be returning soon.
Dave helped us identify over 70 bird species on the farm last year, and this is easily one of the most unforgettable.
We’ll be sharing more of these sightings, photos, and stories with our subscribers all season long.
