🩻 Tuesday Team Member Spotlight- Stacy!🩻
Stacy, RT (R) (CT) (MR), is our wonderful radiology tech who makes all imaging possible. She runs our CT machine, MRI machine, and handles x-rays - taking them and making sure they get sent to all the right places!πŸ“·
Stacy has been a radiology tech for 28 years. She worked in human medicine until 7 years ago, then she moved into veterinary medicine. While she still helps with MRIs and CTs but spends majority of her time here with us! She is also currently pursuing veterinary technician schooling to become a CVT! She strives to bring her human medicine knowledge into vet med to help elevate the care we provide for our furry friends! 🐢 🐱
On top of being a stellar rad tech, she is also passionate about educating! Stacy has gone to St George’s University in Grenada the last 4 years to help teach xray basics, radiation safety, as well as lecture on different topics to the vet staff and students, at the clinic on campus. She has also been invited to do lectures at conventions, schools and clinics all over the state!🏫
Fun fact: Stacy is the only human radiology tech working in veterinary medicine in the Milwaukee area!

Meet Piper, a 2 year old dachshund who stayed with our surgery and critical care team a little while back. Piper was hit by a car, resulting in multiple pelvic fractures as well as a femur fracture. She had extensive bruising from these injuries.
Our surgery department used fluoroscopy to stabilize the joint while fixing the femur at the same time! She required multiple days in hospital, a urinary catheter, monitoring of the bruising, and lots of love from her care team.
Piper may be small, but her fight was huge! We are happy to see her recovering great at home.

✨ Patient Spotlight ✨
Arrow is a 7-year-old, Basset Hound/Dachshund mix that started seeing WVRC's Oncology department for Lymphoma.
Many times, cancer can be a scary diagnosis for people, but animals live in the moment.
Arrow is one-of-a-kind-of fellow and we adore him; on Fridays he has to do a lap to the other departments to visit. His favorite things are people, and as long as Arrow is getting snuggles, he is happy.
Thank you to Dr. Wirth and her team for taking such great care of Arrow! ❀️

Did you know our hospital has a Veterinary Blood Bank donor program? πŸš‘

When you visit the hospital, be sure to check out how our "deposits" are going! Every donor that makes a deposit with our blood bank is added to this container in our lobby. Blood donors save lives, and your pet may be a candidate to help!

Blood donors help in many kinds of cases, including anemia, internal hemorrhaging, surgery or trauma. Our donors are essential in helping us provide important care for our patients, every day of the week!

To learn more about what it takes to be a pet blood donor, and apply to be one, you can ⏩

🌟 Lunch and Learn spotlight! 🌟

Our community partners are essential in building trust and confidence with our community and patients; to build up those relationships our staff frequently will visit and provide learning opportunities for fellow veterinary medical staff. One of our own veterinary technician trainers, Stephany P, CVT, FCCP lead a brief discussion regarding proper restraint tools for Radiology positioning in canine and feline patients.

πŸ• Our goal with these techniques is to ensure patient compliance, minimal exposure and that we can see everything we need to via radiographs! Stephany went through proper positioning techniques from head to tail using one of our canine stuffies.

Thank you to Advanced Animal Hospital for hosting this lunch and learn!
