With shearing week complete, we wanted to highlight some of our animals and their fleeces. Duchess Cramerly is a dark brown yearling female out of P Pandora's Box (MFI PERUVIAN CANDYMAN x KVR's Peruvian Pippa [Breeding stock stemming from Magical Farms]) and E Pluribus Unum (Money) out of Liberty Alpacas. With this repeat pairing, I expected exactly what we got with Duchess and her full brother, Captain Phinneus: elite fineness, uniformity of length, uniformity of micron, and spectacular brightness. Like her dam, Duchess puts a great deal of energy into producing an elite fleece and has great potential as a breeding dam. We will be adding her to our breeding program once she develops past 2 years old, and we are excited at the possibilities with this girl!

The weanlings are back in with the herd just in time for shearing week! The girls will get their annual haircuts, and we can’t wait to see what their fleeces unfold.

Did You Know?
One alpaca on average produces between 5-10 pounds of fleece annually. Alpaca fleece is known for being incredibly soft, warmer than Merino wool, easy to handle, and is hypoallergenic.🦙

Any fiber artists interested purchasing raw fleeces to spin from us? Send us a PM. We have fleeces from 2020 on that are available.

If anyone is interested in utilizing our fleece scraps (neck and leg fiber) as mulching material or nesting material for birds this spring season, send me a message.

Need fertilizer for your gardens this spring? Alpaca manure doesn’t need to be composted and can be spread directly on your plants. Providing root stimulation and essential chemicals for plant growth, the manure is also low in odor. PM us! 🪴

Happy shearing week! ✂️🦙

As we look to make room for more crias and diversifying our small herd's genetics in east central Illinois, we are offering a 4-in-1 package. We have prices for each animal standing alone as well, so check them out on our Openherd profile (linked in the comments). If you have any inquiries, or are interested in other animals listed on our page, feel free to reach out to Gabby Wessels via Facebook or Openherd message, text only to number provided in the info-sheet, or email at [email protected]. I'd be happy to answer your questions!

This boy deserves a special post because we love him so much 🫶🏼 Captain Phinneus, my Phinny boy. He was highly anticipated out of the farm’s very first cria of our own, P Pandora’s Box, and E Pluribus Unum (“Money”) pairing. And boy he did not disappoint. Not only did his fleece explode into extreme fineness and brilliant brightness as a juvie that went on to banner at the 2023 AOA National Show. His personality is also one to gravitate to on the farm, in the pasture, on the halter, and in the show ring. Referred to as a “show pony” by a judge, I couldn’t agree more.

At the Railsplitter and National Show this year, I got to show Phinn for the first time on my own. And it makes me wish that I had been able to show him this whole time! He walks like a dream, and is so respectful and calm. I also had the pleasure of seeing his first cria on the ground, HFAR Amber Spice, who expresses many of her sire’s traits in fineness, head style, and compact frame. Phinn closed out his time at the AOA National Show competing in an elite group in the Fawn Male Color Championship, and I could not be more proud of him!

On that note, my boy’s all grown up and open for breedings for 2026. Looking for a herdsire with an elite pedigree (Jeremiah, Jericho, Jumanji, CandyMan just to name a few) paired with fineness, uniformity, a desirable phenotype, AND a sweet disposition as a cherry on top? Phinn’s your man! Reach out to us on Facebook or Openherd to inquire about Captain Phinneus and coordinate breedings. He is currently being held by Brian Houchin of Houchin Family Alpacas.

Wow, what a weekend! The AOA National Show was so fun, and it was great making connections with others over the wonderfully made creatures we all have come to know and love. I learned a LOT and I'm excited to bring it back to our small breeding program. Captain Phinneus presented himself wonderfully as a Mature Fawn Male Small Breeder in a monstrous and highly competitive National Fawn Color Championship with 11 Invited Champions alone, and around 24 alpacas in the ring. I am proud of how my animals represented the farm all weekend. Special thanks again to Houchin Family Alpacas for helping me in my first National Show and being such a support as always.

See you all in Fort Wayne this weekend for the AOA National Alpaca Show! We have two alpacas that will be showing. I am so proud of Captain Phinneus and Duchess Cramerly out of P Pandora's Box. Pandora was our first cria when our farm was established over 10 years ago, and to see her two offspring showing next to the best in the industry is an honor and privilege. Phinneus and Duchess are full siblings out of Pandora and E Pluribus Unum (aka "Money"). I'd love to connect, and I'm excited to continue to learn and grow. Good luck to all that will be there this weekend!
