Local friends! (Iroquois, Kankakee, and Vermillion Counties) Have you wanted to get your youth involved with livestock? Well, we have a unique opportunity for you! Alpacalyptic Farms is expanding, and we believe we have some alpacas that would do well as youth projects for those with and without the space for them.
We are considering opening up mentorship for one student this year that is looking for a 4H or SAE project through FFA.
Opportunities look like the following:
Livestock Ownership - Fully own alpacas, whether boarding one at our farm or having a small herd of 2+.
Placement/Farm Experience - Don't have the space for an alpaca? Come to our farm to help with chores, learn about their care, assist with herd health and recordkeeping, etc.
Showing & Training - Work with our young alpacas on training and handling for the show. If you want to show in halter or youth classes, we can get you involved.
Fiber & Agribusiness - Buy our fiber at a cheap cost to process and build your own fiber product line. We will happily mentor and give ideas to help start your business. If you make enough product, we just might be able to help you sell it too!
Animal Science & Breeding - If you're interested in a veterinary career or want to see the breeding side of our operation, we will happily have you come to our farm and learn more OR you can own your own herd and we can help you get started!
** If your student is interested in an opportunity like this, please message us directly! We would be happy to chat and educate.
Lastly, Tammy Hamlin is our lucky winner from our cria countdown!! We will be PMing you soon to set up a date to see our lovely new crias. Thank you for participating!
