Proper leash control = happier, safer walks. 🐶✨

Stick to a standard 4-6 ft leash, keep a secure grip, and always look for that relaxed "J" shape slack while you walk!

Save this post for your next walk! 📌

Shorter days mean more walks in the dark! 🌙🐕 Keep your evening adventures safe with a few simple steps: use reflective gear or LED collar attachments, choose familiar and well-lit routes, and make sure both you and your dog are easy to see. A little extra visibility helps support safer walks and better pet wellness all season long. ✨

❤️🐾 HAPPY VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEEK! 🐾❤️

Please join us in celebrating and thanking our amazing team for Veterinary Technician Week!

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful group of people at Dirigo Veterinary Care. Each member of our team brings their own unique strengths, personality, knowledge, and compassion to the table, and together, they make our hospital what it is. From caring for our patients to supporting one another through the busiest days, we truly couldn’t do it without them!

✨ Meet the amazing people who make our team so special! ✨

🦷 Bethany, LVT — Our dental expert! Bethany brings her specialized knowledge and skills to our dental patients, helping keep those tails wagging and smiles healthy.

❤️ Susan, LVT — Our big-hearted caregiver! Susan has an incredible amount of compassion, not just for our patients and clients, but for the people around her, too. She is always looking out for others and making sure everyone feels cared for.

😂 Hannah, LVT — Bringing youth, laughter, and a great sense of humor to the team! Hannah knows how to keep things light and bring a smile to the room, even on the busiest days.

🐈 Marsha, Veterinary Technician Assistant — Our go-to girl for those spicy, fractious kitties! Marsha has a special knack for handling our feline friends who aren’t always thrilled to be at the vet.

🩺 Jamie, Veterinary Technician Assistant — An incredible wealth of knowledge! Jamie brings so much experience and know-how to the team, and we are lucky to have someone we can count on.

💪 Cassidy, Veterinary Technician Assistant — Our newest addition and the missing piece to the puzzle! Cassidy has jumped right in with an incredible work ethic, a willingness to help, and a drive that has made her such a wonderful addition to our team.

🤣 Missy, Veterinary Technician Assistant — The one keeping Dr. Townsend and Susan in line! 😉 Missy is our jack-of-all-trades who can jump into just about any role and keep things moving. If something needs to be done, chances are Missy can do it!

🐾 Carly, Devyn & Mya, Kennel Technicians/Veterinary Assistants — The future of veterinary medicine! All three are currently working toward becoming LVTs, bringing fresh energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for learning to our team. We love watching them grow and can’t wait to see where their careers take them!

☎️ Teagan, Client Service Representative — The memory of the front desk! Teagan somehow remembers EVERYONE and their pets, making our clients feel welcomed, recognized, and right at home the moment they walk through our doors.

To our entire team: thank you for the long days, the hard work, the compassion, the laughs, the patience, and everything you do that often goes unseen. Veterinary medicine takes a special kind of person, and we are so grateful to have each of you on our team. ❤️

Please help us celebrate these amazing people and show them some love in the comments! 🐾❤️

Exercise doesn’t have to mean running miles! 🐾 Slow walks, swimming, sniff adventures, and enrichment games can help dogs stay active while being gentle on their joints. Every little bit of movement counts.

Could adoption myths be keeping you from your perfect match? 🐶💙

The right dog may not be the age, breed, or personality you originally pictured. Puppies aren’t always the easiest option, older dogs can learn new skills, and a dog’s time in a shelter doesn’t define how they’ll behave in a home.

Keep an open mind, ask questions, and focus on finding a dog whose needs, energy level, and personality fit your lifestyle. Your perfect match might surprise you!

Decorating for fall? 🍁 Take a quick look inside every storage bin before sealing it up. Curious cats love cozy hiding spots and sometimes they’re a little too good at hiding.

Senior cats may slow down, but subtle changes can tell us a lot about their health. 🐱💙 As cats age, wellness exams may include kidney and thyroid screening, monitoring for often-overlooked signs of arthritis, and tracking weight changes. Regular senior exams can help uncover concerns early and guide care as their needs change. Schedule your senior cat’s wellness exam today! https://dirigovet.com/contact/

If you suspect your pet has been exposed to or ingested something harmful, act quickly but don’t induce vomiting unless a veterinary professional tells you to.

Before calling, have the product label or a clear photo ready, along with your pet’s weight and the approximate time of exposure or ingestion. These details can help your veterinarian determine the safest next steps.

When in doubt, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison service right away. 🐾
