We could really use your help! Our shelter is in need of some supplies for both our dogs and cats, and every single donation makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this post is just as helpful and helps us reach more people! 🙏🏼

You can order directly from our wishlist, or purchase items separately and drop them off anytime during our open hours. If you come by when we’re closed, you can simply leave donations outside our front door and we’ll make sure they get inside! 🐶 🐶 🐱 🐱

Meet Leo, a 3 year old Akita who is still trying to figure out this whole shelter thing. He hasn’t been with us very long, and it’s safe to say the shelter environment is freaking him out a little bit. He can be nervous when meeting new people, but once he realizes you’re okay, he really does start to come around. And we’ve already seen such a difference with him and our staff!

Leo is good with cats, kids, and some dogs (bring them to meet him!) and he absolutely LOVES being outside. Give this boy some fresh air and an adventure and you’ll see him much more in his element! 🌲 He would really benefit from someone who is willing to continue socializing him and helping him build confidence. His previous owners admitted he wasn’t socialized very much, but honestly? We think Leo has SO much potential with someone who is willing to put in the time and work with him.

He doesn’t need someone to expect him to be perfect right away. He needs someone who will give him patience, consistency, positive experiences, and the chance to learn that the world isn’t so scary. The sooner we can get Leo out of the shelter, the better. We know there’s a good boy underneath those nerves, and we just need someone to see what we see. 🥹

Slade is 1 year & 10 months old, and this handsome cattle dog is looking for someone who truly understands him. He’s a good dog with so much potential, but he’s the kind of dog who needs a little time to feel comfortable. He can be nervous and unsure when meeting new people, and honestly, everything is still so new to him. But he’s coming around, and we’re already seeing that sweet boy underneath the nerves.

Slade knows his commands and would do best with someone who has experience with cattle dogs or a similar working breed and understands that earning his trust may take some patience. He is good with some dogs, but he is not good with cats or young children. Because he can be overwhelmed by a lot going on, we think a quiet 1–2 person household would be ideal for him. He needs a calm, predictable environment rather than a fast paced or chaotic home with lots of people coming and going.

Slade doesn’t need someone to “fix” him, he needs someone willing to give him time, ease his mind, and let him come out of his shell at his own pace. Once he feels safe, we truly believe there is an amazing dog waiting to shine.
