October is National Pet Obesity Month and October 14th is National Pet Obesity Day.

It’s always difficult to talk about your pet’s weight - let’s be honest, it’s not an easy topic to address. We love to love our pets by giving them treats and a little extra snack here and there…

Beginning in 2007, the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP) has tracked dog and cat obesity prevalence to establish a consistent, clinically meaningful understanding of excess body condition and how it has changed over time. APOP also conducts an annual Pet Obesity and Nutrition Opinion Survey, providing complementary insight into how pet owners and veterinary healthcare teams perceive body condition, nutrition, and related factors influencing pet health, beyond clinical assessment alone.

Ronan says Happy National Black Dog Day!!

Did you know that black colored pets are the least adopted from shelters and rescues? This day was created to bring attention to "Black Dog Syndrome"—a phenomenon where dark-haired dogs are frequently overlooked or wait longer in shelters than lighter-colored pets.

What can you do? Let’s see your black haired pets! Post them below!

Also, adopt or foster dark colored pets to break the stigma! How could you say no to Ronan?? He’s pretty convincing that black pets are the best!

Well the first 8 photos to be posted in the Facebook comment section will be our stars next month!!

Don’t worry, we still would love to see your pet be commented even if we’re over 8! You never know when we might use their mug shot… 😉
