🦦💙 Wishlist Wednesday: Ricky & Nash Edition!

Our river otters, Ricky and Nash, are always ready for something new to investigate, chase, carry and play with and this week’s wishlist item is all about keeping those busy otter brains and bodies engaged!

We’re looking for colorful plastic toss rings that our animal care team can use as part of their enrichment activities. Enrichment gives our animals opportunities to explore, problem-solve and interact with new objects in ways that encourage natural behaviors.

And if you know Ricky and Nash…you know there’s a pretty good chance these rings are going to become VERY serious otter business. 😂🦦

✨ TALK ABOUT A TRANSFORMATION!

A HUGE thank you to the incredible team at SERVPRO of Jefferson County for spending time with us at Zoo New York and giving some of our spaces a much-needed deep clean! 🧼🐾

Their crew tackled our floors and carefully cleaned some of the taxidermy and educational specimens in our collection, and the difference is AMAZING. 🤩

There are so many behind-the-scenes pieces that go into caring for a zoo and creating a welcoming space for our guests, and sometimes that includes a whole lot of scrubbing, cleaning and elbow grease. Having community partners willing to lend their expertise makes a tremendous difference.

North Country Nightmares Haunted Hayride presents Brew at the Zoo, returning Saturday, September 12 from 3–7 PM at Zoo New York!

🍂🐸 Fall is right around the corner, let's finish the season strong!

We're still looking for volunteers to help restore Olmstead Pond by removing invasive cattails and reed grass. It's rewarding work, great exercise, and a wonderful way to give back to your local zoo.

👋Every helping hand makes a difference!

📅 Volunteer Days: September 2, 9, 16, 23, 26 & 30
🕙 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

No registration required. Just bring sturdy shoes (or waders if you have them), a willingness to get a little dirty, and a smile!

Sweet End of Summer is happening TODAY at Zoo New York!

Come spend the day with us enjoying games, treats, hands-on activities and plenty of time to explore the zoo and visit the animals. It’s the perfect way to squeeze in one more summer adventure before the season slips away.

🎒 We’re also partnering with FROGGY 97, Classic Hits Z93.3, and 790wtny for the Stuff-a-Bus School Supply Drive! Bring new school supplies to donate and help local students start the school year strong. The first 25 guests who donate will receive 20% off admission.
