Harmony update!!🐾

In 2 1/2 weeks, Miss Harmony has been settling in nicely with her new family.

On the first night, she was able to sniff out any old tennis balls her predecessor may had left hiding under a couch or behind a cabinet🎾😄

She’s loving her new fenced in backyard that they are fixing up just for her! She’s learning decompression, relaxation and a new routine. Just what every shelter dog needs!!

Update 10/11 @ 4pm: BUTTER IS HOME🎉

Butters is still on the loose!
There have been sightings on Middlebury Rd., Sand Pit Rd., Bunker Hill Rd.
Please share so we can get him home.

🎉UPDATE!! Butters was seen a few times this morning and CTDGRV Jess and owner Dave located him. What a great recovery! We thought the dog’s leg was injured but it's ok. He has a little limp. At first Butters was very nervous and not sure of the situation when he spotted Dave. Dave used calming signals while Jess threw chicken towards the dog to distract him. Dave very slowly moved towards Butters and Jess provided guidance. When Dave got close enough Butters recognized his dad as his tail wagged and his body shook with joy that he was finally safe! Great job done by Dave and his family and friends, others who called in sightings and shared the post, and CTDGRV Jess, Tina, Jacque, and Carol. You are one very loved dog Butters. Wishing you a long and healthy life.

Missing from Watertown in the Bunker Hill Rd, Middlebury Rd area. He is a sweet boy but very scared right now. Please if you see him just call his family so we can safely bring him home. He will run if you chase or call out to him. If you have game cameras in the woods around this area please check them and call the owner if you see him on your camera. We ask other home owners to check your security cameras for him as well. Please share and help bring this very loved dog home.

Somethings happen right when they’re supposed to, even if it takes awhile.

This past Saturday, a wonderful family came out to meet Harmony. After 2 hours getting to know her, they decided she needed a home and they needed her!❤️ (doesn’t she look like she’s always belonged with them☺️)

After 362 days in our care, Harmony finally has a new beginning!🎉🏡

Yesterday would have marked a full year of Harmony in our kennel. A monumental moment in any shelter animal’s life. We didn’t hit that mark and are beyond thankful.

Welcome to the sweet life Harmony!

To everyone who has stepped up and donated to the care of all the animals from this case, THANK YOU!💞
We are nothing without the support of our community!

An injured female short haired white cat found in the area of Bunker Hill Rd. was picked up by animal control this afternoon.

Unfortunately due to the extent of the cat’s injuries, she had to be humanely euthanized per a veterinary’s opinion.
This is also why we do not have a photo of the cat.

If you believe this your cat, please give us a call at 860-945-5217.

We’ve had a few inquires on her adoption, but nothing panned out yet, so she is still available and (impatiently) waiting!🏡

P.S. This photo was not easy to take, as Harmony was so eager to try out all her new toys and treats😅😊

The end of this month marks 1 full year that Harmony has been in our care😔
This makes her our longest resident at Watertown Animal Control.

You might asking yourself, but why??
Harmony didn't have the easiest beginning. She was raised in a home with 50+ other animals, cats and dogs. She unfortunately was bred accidently, multiple times. When she came into our care, she decided she loved having her own space and not sharing time with any other dogs. This put her into the "only animal in a household" adoption category, which can be the most difficult for shelter/rescue workers.

What people tend to overlook is the true personality of a dog when they are out of a kennel environment. Most see the high energy, rambunctious, loud dog behind the chain link fence.

But what we see is....

A dog that craves human affection so much that every morning when we come in, she's barking and crying to go outside and play ball with us.
A dog that when we pet her, she becomes overstimulated with excitement.
A dog that when she's out of her kennel and in the office, she struggles to lay down and relax.
A dog that stands and stares at our vehicle leaving, after our shift ends.

As animal control officers, we bond with the animals who come into our care, especially the ones who have been with us for so long, and we ache for them to finally find their home.
We do our absolute best to create as much of a normal environment for the animals in our care, but let's face it, a kennel environment is not a "normal" environment.
Harmony is looking for the one person who will give her a chance. Who will see her for the bright light that she is🌟

She deserves to be in a home where she can finally understand she can relax and enjoy life.

Harmony:
🐾 Is 3 years old, spayed German Shepherd
🐾 Up to date on her rabies vaccines and free from parasites
🐾 Approximately 65lbs
🐾 Needs to be the only pet in the home (no dogs, no small animals)
🐾 High energy but will settle nicely once out of the kennel environment
🐾 Adores people, but looking for an adult only household
🐾 Is non-destructive
🐾 Housetrained
🐾 Looking for a large breed experienced owner
💖 BEYOND READY FOR HER HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
