It's the year of the green onion! Stop by our On-Farm Market Friday, May 29th from 3-6 p.m., or the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday, May 30th from 8:30 a.m.-noon. We will also have plant sales on Saturday, May 30th at the farm from 4-6 p.m.
We accidentally added a '0' to our green onion seed order, so we are going to have a lot of green onions! Good thing they're delicious and easy! Wash and chop them up to keep on hand for the week-they go well with nearly everything. Some of our favorite uses are: toppings on salads, sprinkled over chicken dishes, cooked into eggs, as a garnish on pasta. They add a great pop of flavor, color, and texture to most dishes to make even a simple meal taste great and look gourmet! We will have plants and vegetables available for sale at the farm Friday, May 15th -Saturday, May 16th at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market from 8:30 am - noon.
We will also be open at the farm for plant sales on:
Wednesday, May 13th from 3-6 pm
Thursday, May 14th from 3-6 pm

More veggies! The list this week is growing just like the plants. We have put together a little time-lapse of the growth in one of our tunnels since mid-February. These little plants have been through a lot: bitter cold nights, blizzards, and even snow blowing into the hoophouse (but they kept nice and warm under their row-cover blanket!)–all to make it fresh to your table.
This week and next we will be having additional plant sales (no veggies) hours on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3-6 pm at the farm.
Our regular sales of veggies and plants will occur on Friday from 3-6 pm at the farm, as well as on Saturday morning from 8:30 am to noon at the CF Farmer's market.
For those looking for large quantities of small starter plants we will be open at the farm Saturday and Sunday from 4-6 pm.

Prep time! So continues the (third for the season) weekly ritual of pick, sort, wash, and pack. (Visit: https://www.hoffman-produce-farms-waterloo-iowa.com/updates for the full list of veggies and plants available this week!)Regular season hours are in full swing with our on-farm market every Friday from 3-6 pm and the Cedar Falls Farmer's market every Saturday morning from 8:30-noon. May is the month for garden planting! We will be having extra hours for you to browse plants in the upcoming weeks; plants will be for sale at the farm on Wednesday, May 6th & May 13th and Thursday, May 7th & May 14th from 3-6 pm. Later in May (TBA) we will also have more weekend hours for purchasing small starter plants.

Happy Earth Day! We are asking that you bring containers to the farm when planning to purchase plants this year. We would like to do all we can to help protect our Earth. Every time we need to purchase new flats, that costs, us, you and the environment. Can you please help us out? We will be open Friday, April 24th at the farm from 3-6 p.m. We will have dill, cilantro, lettuce (summer crisp, bib & red), radishes, spinach and turnips for fresh veggies. Our plant selection will include annuals, perennials, a small amount of hanging baskets, herbs, onions, seed potatoes (Belmonda-yellow), vegetable starts & tomato plants. Keep in mind our frost free date for Waterloo/Cedar Falls is May 15th so not all plants will be safe to plant at this time.

Sampling of plants we will have available on Friday, April 17th from 3-6 p.m. at the farm. For vegetables we will have Summer Crisp - Lettuce, Radishes, Spinach, Fresh cut cilantro & dill along with a small selection of other fresh cut herbs. We will be open rain or shine but please watch for severe weather prior to stopping by.

Full speed ahead. We have been busy seeding, transplanting, hanging baskets, tagging plants, and so MUCH more. Opening day at our farm for 2026 will be Friday, April 17th. We will be offering our earliest vegetables and plants of the season. Please watch for a post later in the week with specifics about what we plan to have and our hours. Looking forward to seeing you all VERY SOON!
