It is UNI day at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market this week, and the veggies are ready in their Panther colors! Stop by the market Saturday, August 29th from 8:30-noon to get some veggies and enjoy the activities in the park! As usual, our on-farm market will be open Friday, August 28th from 3-6 pm. Do you feel it? The cool evenings, the warm afternoons, the late sunrises? Change is coming! Now is the time to get ready; can or freeze some tomatoes to keep that fresh summer flavor going all year! We will have plenty of bulk tomatoes available at our on-farm market Friday, August 21st from 3-6 pm and at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market Saturday, August 22nd from 8:30-noon. BULK tomatoes (imperfect with some blemishes) are currently available in quantities of 30 pounds or more for $1/lb (for reference, 20-25 lbs makes a full canner load of 7 quart jars). Colorful critters on a gloomy day! The fields have been rainy and muddy but we will still have an excellent selection of veggies this week. As a reminder we are open for our on farm market Friday, August 14th from 3-6 p.m., at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday morning, August 15th from 8:30 a.m.-noon and if you are looking to pick in the fields, that is every Wednesday and Saturday from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Check out our new mural at the farm. This beautiful painting was done by Denise's very talented niece.

Food safety has been a major topic lately with all the various illness outbreaks. Since we have had several questions on the issue we would like to address you all formally on the matter. As a small farm that produces all our fruits and veggies here in Waterloo, we are isolated from the major vectors of these foodborne illness outbreaks: namely trucks and processing facilities. But that doesn't mean we neglect good food safety practices. We have and continue to take many measures to ensure our produce is safe for you to eat. This includes: using a clean, regularly tested water source for the farm; cleaning and sanitizing crates, surfaces, and machinery; excluding pest disease vectors (such as birds and mammals) from sensitive growing spaces with high tunnels, netting, and fencing; minimizing produce handling; and storing produce appropriately. We do sincerely believe that small-scale, locally produced, direct-to-consumer food is safer. We like seeing you all each week and don't want any of you to fall ill!! (we don't want to get sick either–we eat the same veggies!) We take our responsibility for your health seriously and thank you for your trust in us.

Funny faces! We will be open this week for our on-farm market Friday, July 24th from 3-6 pm and at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market on Saturday, July 25th from 8:30-noon. In addition our u-pick will be open Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from 4-6:30 pm. See you then!

We have noticed a few things...

We notice when you share recipes with one another and get excited about fresh produce...

We notice when you help one another with cantankerous bags...

We notice when you point one another to our cashier scarecrow, Logan, when the line is long…

We notice kind comments and actions that make all this worthwhile…

We notice and appreciate all the little things you do; all these things make everything run much smoother and help us keep this all running! We are so proud of the great little community which we play a small role in fostering. It seems a bright spot in the world. Thank you to our wonderful customers!

As usual, our on-farm market will be open this Friday, July 17th from 3-6 pm and we will be at the Cedar Falls Farmer’s market on Saturday, July 18th from 8:30-noon. To anyone who has tried to contact us the last couple weeks, we apologize. We have been having trouble with our phone and internet; we hope to have the problem resolved soon. What better way to celebrate The 4th of July! We have lots of fresh produce to make all your summertime favorite meals! We will be open Friday, July 3rd from 3-6 p.m. and at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market on Saturday, July 4th from 8:30-noon. Stop by to get fresh sweet corn, new potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, and so much more....... PS: We are currently selling Hoffman Produce T-shirts after many requests from our customers.
