BLM has confirmed my 1-hour appointment for the Cassopolis event on Friday, May 13th at 11:00AM. If there is anyone seriously interested in a TIP horse or otherwise, I may be picking up... am watching current IA.. there are options... but I likely want to leave my existing set up as is, so will dump a considerable amount of $$$$ into getting setup in new area (has existing shelter, just needs panels and will get 2 horses if I do this way). May is going to creep up soon... again if you have been waiting for an opportunity to get a TIP horse or looking for something that needs training off the IA please let me know in the next month (By end of march for sure, preferably sooner as IA ends in 2 weeks. thanks!

I think this is a very positive step towards protecting the horses from those with not so good intentions.
The Mustang Heritage Foundation TIP program is also a great deal, you don't get a check after a year or so... but you get to work with a horse and get to know it after it has been gentled before you adopt it, have less strict fencing requirements and you can progress faster with your training and goals together!
Let me know if you are interested in adopting this year and I am happy to help you find your dream horse!

To enhance existing protections for adopted wild horses and b***os, we've just announced new changes to the Adoption Incentive Program, which offers financial incentives to adopt untrained animals from the BLM.

These important changes include:
➑ The BLM will now require compliance inspections of animals adopted under the Adoption Incentive Program to occur within six months of adoption, rather than twelve. Title eligibility still occurs at twelve months from adoption date.
➑ Title applications will have to be signed by a veterinarian or BLM-authorized officer for the adopter to receive the incentive payment.
➑ The incentive payment will now be made within 60 days after title date, rather than half at the time of adoption and half at the title date.
➑ The minimum adoption fee for animals adopted through the Adoption Incentive Program is also increasing from $25 to $125.

Public input continues to be important to the BLM. Moving forward, the BLM plans to host roundtable sessions with various stakeholders to consider non-cash incentives that could further benefit adopted animals.

Putting this... somewhere... Link to animal search, if you change the number in the address bar to the number of the WHOB***o you are searching for, you will get the status of if they are adopted / titled, etc. Not a lot of info, but I don't want to search for this again so leaving it here. I entered my first Mustangs number.

Who wants to pick out (and commit to) getting a TIP trained Mustang? Summer has been shortened by Covid but I will do if someone wants!

HOW TO DECIPHER THE NUMBER AND SIGNALMENT KEY:

Here's a breakdown of a current Ewing horse that is likely TIP eligible (is eligible for age, etc. but the facility has the ultimate say in which horses will be presented for adoptions (at facility or satellite locations) and which ones they will let TIP trainers take.
Animal 17731785
Animal number - The first two digits of the registration code tell you where horse is from. The next four digits are when horse was removed from the range. The last 4 digits are individual number- used on IA, etc.

Identifier Signalment: HG1AAADAH
See attached sheet, read from left to right. This is a horse (not b***ow) Gelding, with one whorl on face, with a Lft hind white leg (full pastern) but no other white as shown in the face marking column. And it is a Grulla!!

Capture Location: B - UTF59 B means this horse was born in holding, in this case at Utah Axtell/Horse UTF59 (see attached facility code sheet)

From: UTF59 (some are transferred and this would be different)

Arrival Date: 05/23/2018 Date this horse came to Ewing

Age: 3 Age as of Jan 1

Strike Count: 25 Number of adoption events this horse has been at (includes facility open adoptions which is why so high for this one)

Days in Facility 684 Been in Ewing this long, compare to Days in Agency- came in as a yearling that was born in holding.

Days in Agency 1,099 Since birth or capture

The facility codes can be found here:https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files/wildhorse_data_Jan2018FacReport.pdf

Who wants him???? ❀️🐴

Now the brand deciphering is a whole nother code sheet.... maybe later. Happy Easter everyone!

The TIP program has been suspended until June 1st but this also is dependent on when the facility reopens as it could be later depending on the individual facility.
This link has the facility and satellite adoption cancellations. It does appear that the internet adoption for April is still going to happen. Many people have had their pickup locations changed and everybody needs to plan to drive to Ewing for now to pick up their horse.

Hope everybody is able to eventually get thier horses πŸ’•πŸŽ

Adoption and Sale EventsThe BLM offers wild horses and b***os for adoption or purchase at events across the country throughout the year. The most current adoption and sale event schedule is provided below. All times are in local time.

Anyone want a B***o?

03/13/2020

I talked to Marty at the Ewing holding facility in Illinois and he told me there are more horses coming in soon. He suggested waiting about a month to pickup for TIP. I suppose there will be some sent along with Internet adoptions horses. So I will plan to do so between the two adoption events. He was not able to tell me anything about what HMA's (herd management areas) these horses may be coming from, but I will be checking back to see. If I can find out what facility they are coming from that will help. Then when I can get an updated list, we can start picking out some good prospects!! Will share here and on Wisconsin Mustang adoptions page! I will find out as much as possible before going, as it is always very muddy this time of year and can be hard to view the horses.

Ok, this one is bit silly - (or sickeningly sweet??) She did this for ONE day only!
